In the noughties, the Pops took on something of a nomadic appearance. Now it's on Fridays! Now it's on Sundays! Now it's on BBC2! Now it's on Tuesday mornings at 3am on Channel 5! Okay, maybe not that last one. The final rebrand (bringing us to where we are now) went all orange and yellow, and the show became a live transmission again. Hooray!
In other news, Victoria Beckham launched two head-to-head chart battles (one with Sophie Ellis-Bextor and one with Kylie) and lost them both. It became easy-peasy to become a popstar by appearing on TV contests: Hear'Say came and went, Will beat Gareth, Girls Aloud beat One True Voice, and everyone beat Steve Brookstein. Download sales were integrated into the charts for the first time, and we took the Pops outside to the car park for huge acts of RAWK from the likes of U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. And then we said goodbye. Sniff.
