Portsmouth substitute Jason Crowe earned his team a point after Brynjar Gunnarsson had opened the scoring for Stoke.

Stoke had dominated the opening stages and deservedly took the lead after 33 minutes.

But it was league leaders Pompey who dominated the second half and eventually forced a share of the spoils.

Stoke almost scored after 14 minutes when Andy Cooke met Lewis Neal's cross on the volley, but he was denied by a superb save from Shaka Hislop.

But 12 minutes before half-time Stoke's pressure was finally rewarded with a goal.

Wayne Thomas jinked his way down the wing and floated a cross to the back post for Gunnarsson to head his first goal of the season.

Portsmouth - with Kevin Harper on for Deon Burton - improved after the break and finally equalised after 73 minutes.

Boss Harry Redknapp introduced Crowe and with virtually his first touch of the game the substitute smashed Linvoy Primus' pass into the net.
