Noble hails Great Britain resolve
Brian Noble
Great Britain coach Brian Noble hailed his side's second-half performance after their superb comeback secured a 22-12 victory over New Zealand.

"We gave them a few piggy backs in the first half and if you let the Kiwis play, it is like taking on the Harlem Globetrotters," Noble said.

"That's why I can't take my hat off enough to the team. I'm really pleased and they showed a lot of belief.

"We know if we get to the end of the field we are capable of scoring."

Noble added: "It was a tough game but the disappointment of last week is now behind us.

"To be where we want to be we have got to play five Tests in five weeks but these are three very good teams and any of the three can still win it."

Britain can now secure a place in the final by beating Australia at Wigan next week.

Man-of-the-match Paul Wellens said team spirit was the key to Great Britain's fightback.

He said: "To bounce back in the second half in the way we did speaks volumes for the team spirit we've got."

We built a rod for own back - we just weren't smart enough
NZ coach Daniel Anderson
But Wellens was cautious about Britain's prospects against Australia and New Zealand in the coming weeks.

"They are two very tough games. New Zealand are a quality side and will bounce back but before that we have a score to settle with the Aussies."

New Zealand coach Daniel Anderson criticised his side after they allowed Great Britain to fight back.

He blamed a lapse in concentration immediately after half-time.

Anderson said: "I think we had the ball for four tackles in the second half. We built a rod for own back - we weren't smart enough.

"We played well in the first half and well for the last 30 minutes but we had a 10-minute lapse after the break."
