Men's curling final - GB 2-3 Canada (after three ends)

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC Two

The curling game has changed so much recently. The ice conditions are just fantastic, they can get great curl and the precision is millimetre-perfect.

For me, it's almost turning into a sweeping game. The difference sweeping can make is incredible.

For the uninitiated, sweeping creates friction on the ice and sweeping in front of the stone as it rolls means the stone will roll further.

Canada are lying two with one stone apiece remaining in the third end.

A puzzle for Bruce Mouat and the British team to work out.

Can they find a way to limit Canada to just one?

Oh that is a brilliant run from Adele Nicoll!

She leaps out of her seat and cheers as the sled comes up the finish straight after a significant improvement on yesterday's heat one and two.

Nicoll and Ashleigh Nelson clock 58.03 seconds, the 11th-quickest run of the heat so far.

That shoots them up to 16th place in the standings and they will compete in heat four later on.

Canada have the hammer in the third end and are in a similar position to what GB had in the previous end, with two yellow stones in the house and with some distance between them.

Grant Hardie almost plays the perfect shot for GB but can't quite freeze on the yellow out wide.

She also competed in Cortina in the women's event and alongside Bruce Mouat in the mixed doubles, in which the British pair finished fourth.

    Curling commentator on BBC Two

Night fell here a little while ago, and so many people around town were talking about one thing and one thing only; the men's curling final.

Lots of people are watching in bars and restaurants who couldn't get tickets. It has drawn the attention of a lot of people in Cortina.

You've probably noticed that the curlers all have microphones on, ostensibly so we can hear them discussing their tactics. But, boys being boys and this being a high-pressured environment, sometimes a few wee swearies can slip out.

"You forget it about it a lot of the time," says Bobby Lammie. "Then you say something you shouldn't..."

As the team's alternate, Kyle Waddell is unlikely to make it on to the ice, but he had some advice for his pals: "You just drop a Scottish slang swear word. You'll get away with a few more of them."

No need for any swearies from the GB boys yet. Early days of course, but they've started well.

GB score two to take leadpublished at 18:35 GMT 21 February

Men's curling final - GB 2-1 Canada (after two ends)

Bruce Mouat is left with a simple draw to earn two for Great Britain.

A simple task for a player of his calibre, even with the pressure of playing in an Olympic final.

So far, so good for the British lads.

This second end is shaping up nicely for Great Britain with just the skips left to play.

With GB lying two, Canada's Brad Jacobs tries to nudge a yellow back onto the red that's closest to the button.

He does that, removing that red, but the angle isn't there to move both reds.

Big chance for two here if Bruce Mouat can get these final couple of stones right.
