Skied for the first time in early 2000's aged 40. Went several times with decent skiers and boarders from my home town. Came across a relatively unused boarder cross on one of the trips. This turned out to be the most fun ever. Imagine the carnage, but no damage!

Remember sledging down a local hill as a kid, so perhaps luge might have been my thing, but I'd have needed to have taken it up about 40 years ago!

    Ice hockey - men's play-offs

With events in Livigno being called off, it's lucky that we've got some sport happening under a closed roof.

We've got a couple of men's ice hockey matches coming up now...

    • Switzerland v Italy
    • Germany v France

These are play-off matches, with the winning teams making it through to the quarter-finals.

You can watch Switzerland against Games hosts Italy on BBC One.

Welcome to Rho Arena, the smallest of the four venues in the Milan cluster.

This is one of two temporary venues built in the Rho Fiera exhibition centre, opposite the long track speed skating stadium.

Rho Arena has been used for ice hockey preliminaries, but is hosting one play-off - between Switzerland and hosts Italy - then one quarter-final tomorrow.

Then it will be done, and the stands will come down.

And as if by magic Emma Smith is here ... although not at the speed skating.

The snow is causing havoc in Livigno, but thankfully, there is some ice hockey about to start!

Think I'd like to be in the middle of the four man Bob. Just shove, jump in and cross your fingers. And quite anonymous - like a bass player in the band.

The long track speed skating has always interested me. As a former runner, I would love to get good enough to push myself against the clock. Luge and skeleton also interest me.

  6. 'Bleak picture' for British short track speed skatingpublished at 11:02 GMT 17 February

As Niall Treacy skidded out of the men's 500m heats on Monday morning, British hopes at the short track speed skating were finally put out of their misery.

Put in particularly stark contrast by Team GB's Super Sunday the day before - with golds won in snowboarding and skeleton - this has been a grim Games in Milan.

Treacy, Britain's only representative in short track, suffered a crash, fall or some other mishap in the 500m, 1,000m and 1500m.

So the wait goes on for Team GB for a first speed skating medal. It has been 32 years since Nicky Gooch claimed bronze in the men's 500m at Lillehammer 1994.

Wilf O'Reilly earned two golds when short track was a demonstration event at Calgary 1988, but since the sport made its official debut at Albertville 1992, no Briton has won an Olympic event.

In the past three decades, the picture has never looked so bleak.

Treacy was a one-man army in Milan. Four years ago at Beijing 2022, Britain sent three short track skaters.

In 2018, GB sent a team of five to PyeongChang, with short track one of the great British hopes for a medal.

Before the 2018 Games in South Korea, UK Sport provided £4.8m to short track skating - which was withdrawn after a team which included then-world champion Elise Christie, and Farrell Treacy – Niall's brother – failed to win a medal.

Eight years later, the latest UK Sport funding allocation of just under £2m has been presented as a total for short track, figure and long track speed skating.

Daniel, it's funny you should say that because BBC Sport's Emma Smith has been across the speed skating in Milan and has written an insightful piece on what's gone wrong at these Games for Great Britain in short track.

Working in a marshalling yard requires concentration and a quick response to chaos, so maybe speed skating would be good for me? With the pathway for British athletes now, anything is possible. We’ve had a terrible time of that event this year, which is sad because we have so much potential that is going untapped.

  9. Big shoes result in disqualificationpublished at 10:55 GMT 17 February

    Daniel TschofenigImage source, Getty Images

Imagine having your Olympic hopes crushed because your shoes are too big. Well, that's exactly what happened to Austrian ski jumper Daniel Tschofenig.

He said he felt "extremely stupid" after being disqualified from the men's large hill individual event for wearing oversized boots.

The 2025 World Cup champion was found to be wearing boots that were four millimetres larger than the rules permitted.

"I used new shoes in training which, by the way, I wasn't very happy with, but I kept them," Tschofenig said.

"Unfortunately, I was naive and didn't measure it. Extremely stupid of me, there was just so much stress going on. But rules are rules."

Learnt to snowboard aged 38 - who knew it would be better than surfing - tried out snowboard cross aged 40. I beat a bunch of 17-year- old's, so satisfying! And been addicted ever since. Now 63 and expect many more days on the hill.

I'm sure most people would say they fancy they could do curling, but it's so much more than just sweeping! As a decent amateur runner with good endurance, there's only one sport I would even remotely consider - cross country skiing.

  11. The Games moonwalking ice rink sensationpublished at 10:46 GMT 17 February

    Mark CallanImage source, Getty Images

Did you hear about the 61-year-old from Glasgow who's been captured moonwalking down the curling rink at the Winter Olympics?

Well it's been quite a week for Mark Callan, who has been plastered all over various social media platforms in the course of doing his job.

You might well have seen Callan. He is the guy with the back pack and hose, shuffling backwards down the sheet inside the near-empty Cortina Curling Stadium, spraying plumes of water into the air. Pebbling the ice, it's called.

Some clips have been set to music, exaggerating his dainty movements, and parodies have circulated.

Having done a couple of winter seasons away when younger, snowboard cross seems a very obvious choice. However due to the nature of a current mechanical profession now, the mindset & accuracy of curling looks very appealing.

I'm not surprised at all that the slopestyle final has been postponed, the conditions here in Livigno are horrendous right now.

Looking outside, there is no difference between the ground and the sky. It's all just white.

It's not just about the safety of the athletes, but everyone else too - coaches, judges, photographers, media and of course the fans too.

Also, unlike the halfpipe and big air, the slopestyle course is not lit, so can't be held at night.

    Snowboarding - Women's slopestyle final

The women's snowboard slopestyle final has been postponed.

As we've mentioned already, the snow is bucketing it down in Livigno and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has announced their decision to postpone the final, with athletes unable to complete practice runs.

We've been told there will be more updates at 17:00 CET (16:00 GMT).

Good morning from an incredibly snowy Livigno.

It's been snowing all night, and after a brief reprieve, has started again. The women's aerials have been delayed, and I would say the women's snowboard slopestyle final is at risk too. That's due to start at 13:00 CET (12:00 GMT).

I just took this photo in central Livigno. Normally, you can see a church clock tower and the mountains behind, but it's all disappeared into the abyss.
