Sebastian Samuelsson has cut a dejected figure at times, but he is soaking up the applause of the crowd.

He is on the podium this time for Sweden. He was involved in their gold medal-winning exploits eight years ago and he will be over the moon to be on the podium again with a brave, brilliant bronze.

A great day for biathlon - a brilliant race with great skill and stamina. A world class sport.

Eric Perrot anchors France home in style. He collapses to the snow, with a huge hug.

Well done to Vetle Sjastad Christiansen. Norway had a fifth member watching over them today and he may have well have been in the team today, but he has been in their hearts all throughout.

The two dominant nations have done it again.

We're on the final climb and Eric Perrot is retaining France's lead.

Norway's Vetle Sjastad Christiansen has a lot of ground to make up in the closing stages if they are to take gold.

That wasn't perfect from Eric Perrot but he has completed his set.

Norway's Vetle Sjastad Christiansen hits five clean shots and is off to chase the Frenchman for gold.

I enjoy how the biathlon is basically the James Bond event of the Winter Olympics - chase on skis, shoot, chase some more. They should launch off a cliff at the end with their nations flag as a parachute. Big finish!

I would love to try skeleton. There’s something very exciting about hurtling down an ice track head first.

Luge would be fun because I wouldn't like going down headfirst!

The shooting is definitely what wins and loses you a medal.

I wonder how often they train for this part of the event?

I have lactic acid build-up just watching this ...

You don't realise just how demanding this course is until the camera pans out and they look like tiny dots on the snow.

What a final leg we're in for!

Sturla Holm Laegreid has put Norway into medal contention with this strong performance, but Martin Ponsiluoma has just sprinted past him to regain Sweden's lead.

Are we going to see a monumental burn-up between France and Norway?

Eight medals so far for France and seven so far for Norway, across the female and male biathlon.

The French are on three golds, three silvers and two bronze. Norway have two golds, three silvers and two bronze.

It's absolutely incredible. The only other country with multiple medals is the Italians.
