Well, that got quite lift-tastic towards the end - gets my vote!

Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava look pretty happy with themselves. I think Georgia will be on a Winter Olympic podium tonight...

Georgia have never won a Winter Olympics medal.

Can European champions Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava make history?

Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud wanted to be clean and solid because top five is what they would've been looking for at the very best. This is not as good as what they did in the team event.

It was a terrific start from these two. You can't change anything, you can't get the points back. In singles sometimes you can throw in an extra jump but not in pairs.

Canada's Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud slot into sixth place (199.66 points).

With two pairs to go, world champions Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara (Japan) are guaranteed a medal.

    As it stands:

    1. Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara (Japan) - 231.24
    2. Maria Pavlova/Alexei Sviatchenko (Hungary) - 215.26
    3. Wenjing Sui/Cong Han (China) - 208.64

That technical score isn't threatening the Japanese. It would've been a tough ask of these two.

Another Gladiator-backed routine but Canada's Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud - something of a surprise in third place overnight - can't match the show-stopping performance of Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara.

Pereira overcooks a landing but stays upright. Michaud hits the floor following the triple Salchow. Shame.

This Olympics has been better than Maria Pavlova and Alexei Sviatchenko could've ever hoped. They are guaranteed a top five finish at the Olympics.

It's 141.39 for Hungary's Maria Pavlova and Alexei Sviatchenko for their free skate - a season's best but not enough to overtake the world champions.

Three pairs to go. As it stands:

    1. Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara (Japan) - 231.24
    2. Maria Pavlova/Alexei Sviatchenko (Hungary) - 215.26

It's all green in the technical score box in the top left of your screen for the Hungarian pair!

The early jumps - a double axel and a triple Salchow - earn the applause of the crowd, the lifts are great, and they finish with some intricate (and quite frankly, balance-defying) spins.

They look quite chuffed. Leaders Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara clap heartily from the sidelines.

Ryuichi Kihara is in floods of tears; he made a technical error on a lift in their short program, which caused the Japanese pair to score below par yesterday.

He must be so relieved, that free skate was magnificent.

And they go top of the leader board, unseating reigning champions Sui Wenjing and Han Cong - and how! An overall score of more than 231, a lead of 23 points over the Chinese. That is a chasm.

We will have new gold medallists in pairs figure skating.

    Four duos to go.

And that is why Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara are the world champions. Skating with a point to prove. They came here for the gold and they were sorely disappointed after yesterday's short program, a mistake that is so characteristically unlike these two.

Great Britain's Adele Nicoll talking to BBC Sport after finishing 18th in the women's monobob: "I’m a bit speechless. I am in shock. That last run is just not reflective of my capabilities as a pilot. I put down three really solid runs and I think maybe what shows is that you need to put four solid runs down to keep your position. I was 11th going into the final run and maybe a lack of experience has not done me too well.

"I am extremely disappointed and I do feel like I’ve let everybody down, but I am sure I will process it and I’ll take that with me into the two-woman. The monobob was never the strong event coming into the Games - the two-woman has always been our stronger event. I am really proud of myself for the three solid runs and to be sat 11th going into the last run shows the potential. I know everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong and it is just one of those nightmare performances that I’ll hopefully move on from.

"My best performance so far in a World Cup has been 12th so to be sat 11th going into that final run was a great achievement and unfortunately I just couldn’t lay down that fourth run. It was probably the worst run I’ve ever had in my life, which is not ideal in an Olympic Games.

"Hopefully that shows people that this is raw and it is not all sunshine and rainbows. I’ve had to overcome a lot of hurdles to even be here - I started off this season not even walking, and had to overcome a serious injury to even be o the starting block today. I am just taking some accountability for that fourth run not being good enough and I need to pull it together for the two-woman."

Jamaica's Mica Moore talking to BBC Sport after finishing 14th in the women's monobob: "I’m so happy. It has been a real tough journey to get here, it hasn’t been easy at all. I guess to me it is just a story of not giving up. I had a really difficult time with Great Britain and that is not secret at all and I’m just so proud I didn’t give up on myself and I’m so grateful for my family and friends for digging myself out of the trenches when it was really tough and just keep going. Moments like this make it really worth it.

"It is a really proud moment. I’ve spoke a lot about my grandfather and how we came over with the Windrush generation and I never got the pleasure of meeting him but my mum has told me so many stories about him and I just had that in my heart the whole time. I just wanted to make my family proud. They’ve supported me for so long. I’m 33 now so I’m quite old and they’ve never wavered in their support. I’ve just had the most lovely career because of them."
