    Cross-Country Skiing - women's 4 x 7.5km relay

Just as a reminder, the third and fourth legs are being skied using a freestyle technique on a freestyle course.

In simple terms, the athletes are moving their skis in a side to side motion, as if they were ice skating, to move forward.

The classic technique, used in the first and third legs, sees the athletes ski in pre-made parallel tracks - moving their skis back and forward.

    It's all very technical!

Frida Karlsson is doing everything she can to try to drag Sweden back into medal contention here.

She isn't the champion in skiathlon by over 50 seconds or the champion in 10km by over 45 seconds for nothing!

It's not over just yet for the world champions.

Frida Karlsson is 1.10 down but she's 25 seconds off a podium position.

She needs to ski this second circuit of the third leg as if her life depends on it.

    Cross-Country Skiing - women's 4 x 7.5km relay

Norway have got a big hold in this women's 4 x 7.5km relay now.

They have led the way since the first leg changeover and they are currently 40.1 seconds ahead of second place Finland at the latest checkpoint.

It's an important lead after 18.7km skied. They will want to see this gold medal out now, especially with Sweden bottling their lead.

Switzerland were going about their business quietly in the first two legs, but they are firmly in third place 16.3km into this relay race.

Nadja Kaelin put out an impressive second leg, handing over to sister Marina Kaelin just 25.5 seconds behind leaders Norway.

A bronze is definitely possible for them, if they can hold off Italy!

I think we're about to witness something absolutely spectacular from Frida Karlsson. She's down 1.22 to the rest of the field but she's been flawless in the frees so far, this is all about the clock and her resolve.

I have a funny feeling this is about to be Karlsson's greatest moment of her career.

Huge credit to Ebba Andersson - you never give up, you never stop trying no matter the circumstances. She'll feel devastated and that she's let her teammates down but she hasn't.

Oh my word! Sweden's Ebba Andersson has just taken a horrendous fall.

She didn't look comfortable in the build-up, with her skis wobbling all over the place, then she basically does a forward roll into the snow.

She loses one of her skis along the way, but she hasn't got time to stop - a gold medal is at risk!

She picks it up and continues powering forward on just one ski, until a member of the Swedish team comes to her aid with a replacement.

That's what you call an elite mentality.

Hi, can you tell me on the cross-country skiing there is already tracks embedded in the snow. Are these made before races by course officials?

    Graham

Morning Graham! Yes, these are pre-made tracks for the athletes to ski in the 'classic' technique - moving the skis back and forth along the parallel tracks. Apparently the machine that cuts the tracks is called a 'snow groomer'.

Finland's Kerttu Niskanen is trying to disrupt things at the top of the order, but it looks like she has tired herself out after pushing herself to the max up the latest hill.

She falls behind Caterina Gantz in third, with Ebba Andersson clawing her way back to second and Norway holding firm in first place through Astrid Oyre Slind.

There's a lot on the line in terms of how the story of the second week of cross-country skiing unfolds.

The Norwegian women have been stunned by how good and dominant their Swedish rivals have been. It's been the other way around in the men's programme.

Norway's men have had six of the nine available medals and Sweden's women have had seven of the nine.

Ebba Andersson is doing everything she can to close the gap for Sweden after that tumble.

She's just overtaken Italy's Caterina Ganz to claim back second place.

She will be disappointed, but all is not lost because sprinter Jonna Sundling is still to come. Her team-mate was pivotal in Sweden's comeback victory over Norway at the 2025 World Championships.

    Norway lead for now.

A fall! We would not have expected that from Ebba Andersson.

All of a sudden, a little moment of drama in this race which should have gone to Sweden by a long way.

Andersson has three silver and one bronze medal in her Winter Olympic collection. Two of those silvers coming here; the skiathlon and the 10k. Bronze in the relay four years ago and a silver in the relay eight years ago.

But she's never tasted Olympic gold so that's what she's aiming for.

    More drama in the women's 4 x 7.5km relay!

We're into the second leg now and Sweden's Ebba Andersson has just taken a fall - nobody was expecting that!

She gets herself back up as quickly as possible and resets herself with her goggles on her forehead, but all of a sudden the reigning World Champions find themselves back in third place after leading from the off.

    We're 5.6km into the first leg of this women's 4 x 7.5km relay now.

Sweden, who are favourites for gold after an incredible comeback victory over Norway at the 2025 World Championships, have carved out a healthy lead already.

Linn Svahn is paving the way for the Swedes after already claiming a gold medal for herself in these Games.

They are currently 1.0 seconds ahead of Norway in second and 2.6 seconds ahead of Italy in third.

Great Britain curler Sophie Jackson, spoke to BBC Sport after GB's win over Canada: "No relief, it just feels absolutely amazing to go out there and get our first win against the world champions and number one in the world. It's excellent. We put the game together that we wanted to today - we had a good first half and carried that on in the second half.

"It feels super positive and as Jen [Dodds] said - Becca played absolutely fantasic out there, we all did but it's great to see Rebecca when she's like that and I'm sure she'll be on a roll now."

Great Britain curler Jennifer Dodds, spoke to BBC Sport after GB's win over Canada: "I think we spoke at half time about taking the extra second at the hack and just really focused on our shots because we put ourselves in such a good position, being two up at the fifth end, and we're very confident in that situation. We can usually finish off the game very well and we showed that today."

On the seventh end where GB limited Canada to one point: "I put us in a little bit of trouble, but then Rebecca [Morrison] made that wee hit and roll which was a game-winning shot. It really felt it changed the momentum. It felt like they felt like they were getting back into it, but that shot shut that down.

"Rebecca played great today and that was an amazing shot for her first Olympics and may it continue."

  20. Sweden the team to beatpublished at 11:13 GMT 14 February

Sweden will start as favourites after their incredible comeback victory over Norway at the 2025 World Championships.

Sprinter Jonna Sundling was the hero as she reduced a deficit of more than 37 seconds during the anchor leg to claim gold for her team in Trondheim last year. "I was set to hunting mode," said the 31-year-old.

The Swedes have reached the podium at the previous three Games, with gold in 2014, silver in 2018 and bronze in Beijing four years ago, and they'll be disappointed if they don't add to that tally here.

Frida Karlsson already has two gold medals at these Games, in the 10km plus 10km skiathlon and the 10km interval, with Ebba Andersson taking silver in both events, so they are clearly in top form.

Norway, Germany and Finland will hope to push them all the way - and the former won this event in 2010 and 2018.
