Matteo Berrettini has called for a medical timeout and he's headed off court to receive some treatment. It seems to be an issue with his upper thigh.

Matteo Arnaldi tries to slow down Matteo Berrettini's powerful hitting by sending a couple of moonballs into the sky, but Berrettini is unfazed and he continues to find the court until Arnaldi goes long.

A sublime inside-out forehand winner slams across the court from Matteo Berrettini and he has the chance to break back immediately.

Matteo Berrettini puts more pressure on Matteo Arnaldi's serve, clawing his way back each time Arnaldi pulls ahead. Deuce.

Matteo Arnaldi slides into a piercing two-handed backhand down the line to bring up the first break point of the second set.

And he gets it! A long forehand from Berrettini leaves Arnaldi shaking a clenched fist in celebration.

Matteo Berrettini smashes the ball into the ground and it bounces high and into the stands on Court Philippe Chatrier. Matteo Arnaldi would have needed a jet pack to get that one.

Berrettini then dictates play from the baseline before softly dinking over a couple of drop shots that even the rapid Arnaldi can't get to.

But a long shot from the older of the two Italians takes us to deuce.

Matteo Berrettini plants his next two returns into the net and that gives Matteo Arnaldi the hold.

But he manages to squeeze in a lovely cross-court forehand winner on the next point to force deuce.

Matteo Berrettini has returned and he looks fine to continue, although he was deep in conversation with the chair umpire and didn't look too happy about something.

But a couple of misses from Matteo Arnaldi opens up a half chance for the former Wimbledon finalist. 0-30.

Matteo Arnaldi has bounced back brilliantly. Matteo Berrettini's forehand has been all over the place.

After one hour and 16 minutes, and having trailed by a double break at 3-0 down, Matteo Arnaldi wins the first set of this all-Italian quarter-final at the French Open.
