WOW. Sport is amazing. I did not expect to see the women's world number two and three out in the same day. Such a great performance from Eala to knock out the defending champion. She has been great this grass court season so she absolutely deserves it! Congrats Eala, you're smashing it!!!

    *Giron 2-6 2-2 Zverev

Marcos Giron brings up a break point but Alexander Zverev responds with his sixth ace of the match.

Zverev goes on to safely see the game out as Giron plants a backhand behind the baseline.

The second set is so far proving to be more competitive than the first.

    Nick Lester
Former British tennis player BBC One

He has had very few matches on the main tour, Arthur Fery. He made is Davis Cup debut last year, but not had a lot of games on the ATP tour to call upon.

  6. 'So much better from Fery'published at 16:11 BST 4 July

    *Bergs 6-2 5-7 0-1 Fery

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC One

So much better from Arthur Fery.

The double faults in the second set were crucial from Bergs. Five doesn't seem a huge amount but it is when you serve them and he served them at crucial points there.

Fery's winners are up, not as much as his opponent, but he is definitely working hard.

He reads the game so well, Fery. When you are 5'9 you have to do that. You won't get the advantage of the serve and the wingspan, but he is quick and he knows how to play the percentage shots.

  7. Fery holdspublished at 16:11 BST 4 July

    *Bergs 6-2 5-7 0-1 Fery

Arthur Fery settles in nicely with a hold to 15.

The Briton looks a completely different player than the one that was blown away in the opening set.

Philippines' Alexandra Eala, speaking on Centre Court after beating defending champion Iga Swiatek: "I don't know how to describe this feeling. I'm into the second week of a Grand Slam and it is amazing for me. Iga [Swiatek] is a phenomenal player and a really nice person, so I'm really grateful to be able to share Centre Court with her at Wimbledon nonetheless. I'm really emotional. For someone like Iga [Swiatek], who has won so many Grand Slams, this achievement may seem small but for someone who grew up in the Philippines it is huge.

"I went to train with my brother and my grandfather every day after school with my ruffled socks, light-up shoes and chubby cheeks, so to younger me this is everything. But, obviously, just because I'm emotional does not mean I'm satisfied, so next round let's go!"

On how nervous she was stepping out onto Centre Court: "This is one of the biggest matches of my life, for sure. This is my dream court as well, so I'm really happy with the atmosphere you guys gave. Thank you so much for cheering me on. How many times have I dreamed of opportunities like this? When I have my opportunities, I have to take them because they are blessings. Just being here is a blessing, I worked so hard to get here and I'm taking it. If I'm here I have a chance, so I'm taking it."

On the support from the crowd: "It is incredible to have my countryman cheering me on, knowing that we are all in this together. This goes out to them, my family and all the girls with ruffled socks and chubby cheeks. It means the world."

“It’s coming home, it’s coming home, Arthur’s coming home,” is the latest chant to sound out around court 18 after Arthur Fery levels the tie. It seems to be the same two guys starting them each time.

Both Fery and Zizou Bergs have headed off court, probably to get a bit of respite from the sun.

It is seriously, seriously hot out here.

It's over 12 minutes since a ball was last hit in this match but the players have returned from their comfort breaks and British wildcard Arthur Fery is on serve to get us going in the third set.

Fery has come-from-behind to win his previous two matches in four sets, are we going to see him repeat that trick a third time?

    Eala 7-6 (11-9) 6-2 Swiatek

Big smiles and a wave to the adoring crowd from Alexandra Eala as she walks off.

A couple of quick autographs and then it's back to the changing room to try and let it all sink in.

Whatever Eala goes on to achieve in her career, you feel this will always stand out as an important moment for the Filipino.

    *Giron 2-6 0-0 Zverev

Alexander Zverev has breezed through the first set against Marcos Giron, taking it 6-2.

If the German second seed continues to play like he has, it's hard to see a way into the match for unseeded American Giron.

    Bergs 6-2 5-7 0-0 Fery*

Zizou Bergs retreats to his chair and, just as Arthur Fery did at the end of the first set, smashes his racquet off his bag.

That was his fifth double fault of the second set that handed over the break and set.

Both players have left the court for a comfort break.

    Eala 7-6 (11-9) 6-2 Swiatek

Iga Swiatek gets a nice ovation as she walks off, her Wimbledon title defence now over.

Whether the Polish third seed heard it at all, I'm not so sure, she marched off with a face like thunder.

She knows she was a long way from her best but take nothing away from how good Alexandra Eala was.

A huge roar erupts close to court 18 and if I turn my head I can catch a glimpse of Henman Hill.

  17. Break points Ferypublished at 15:56 BST 4 July

    *Bergs 6-2 5-6 Fery

With that tie-break guarantee in the bag, Arthur Fery is playing with a little bit of freedom and gets to 30-0. A break here would take his confidence levels through the roof.

Zizou Bergs hits back for 30-15 but Fery gets up the net to volley a winner for 40-15 and earns two set points.

Well I did say this would be the match of the day! I felt Alexandra Eala had her chance. That first set was the best first set of the championships for me. She is one her knees, what a moment.

She is the first Filipino in the game to beat a Wimbledon champion and the first Filipino to reach the fourth round here. She is the real deal. Oh boy, her future is bright!

Serena Williams has withdrawn from the doubles alongside her sister Venus after failing to recover from a knee injury.

Williams, 44, suffered the injury during her first-round defeat by Maya Joint on Tuesday - in her first competitive match in nearly four years.

The pair were scheduled to play in the first round today against Solana Sierra and Camilla Osorio.

In a post on Instagram, the 23-time Grand Slam winner says she is "heartbroken" to withdraw, but told fans to "stay tuned", suggesting she may continue her career when she is fully fit.

"I’m heartbroken to have to withdraw from doubles. Coming back to compete again has been a gift, and the opportunity to play alongside Venus once more meant the world to me," said Williams,

"I did everything I could to be ready, but unfortunately my knee just isn’t ready to compete.""I’m especially grateful to tournament director, Jamie Baker, and the entire tournament team for giving me every opportunity to play here.

"Thank you to the fans for your incredible support and for making this comeback so meaningful…All I can say is stay tuned to a city near you…"The photo of the syringes shows the fluid they drained from my knee after my singles match…yikes! The good news is my knee shouldn’t swell or collect that much fluid again.

"The bad news is that, as hard as I tried, I just wasn’t able to get it ready for doubles."

Alexandra Eala has dethroned the Wimbledon champion!

A stunning performance from the 21-year-old Filipino and she has beaten Iga Swiatek in straight sets.

What a match, what an upset - Eala is in tears as she takes the acclaim of the Centre Court crowd.

It was never going to be easy to see off the defending champ and a six-time Grand Slam winner but she was able to stave off four break points before slapping a forehand winner into the corner to seal the win.
