It was Marta Kostyuk who took the first three games in the first set, and now Elina Svitolina has taken charge of the second as she concedes just the single point on her way to a comfortable hold of serve.

It feels like there's been a big momentum shift here as the seventh seed strides confidently to her chair.

Svitolina is trying to take as many balls out of the air as she can. She has enough respect of the movement of Kostyuk to know these balls will not be put to bed otherwise.

Elina Svitolina is having to work so hard to win some of these points because of Marta Kostyuk's athleticism, but she keeps her focus and eventually puts the point away on an important fifth point for 40-30.

Svitolina introduces a bit of variety to help her get to safety after Kostyuk forces deuce, and that will be a huge relief as she makes a positive start to set two.

Elina Svitolina has the opportunity to move into the world's top five at Roland Garros - but she needs to reach the final to do so.

For Marta Kostyuk, she could make her top-10 debut if she reaches the final.

A great mini battle in that final game to end the first set, but it is the lower-ranked Marta Kostyuk who takes it - and you have to say it's deserved.

The 15th seed has been sharper from the start and is one set away from the first major semi-final of her career.
