Alexander Zverev goes big on his serve and follows with a net volley that doesn't come back from Rafael Jodar.

The German was under some pressure when trailing 5-2 in that first set but his experience came to the fore.

It's just starting to get away from Rafael Jodar as Alexander Zverev gets his second mini-break.

Jodar then gets too much on his drop shot and Zverev arrives perfectly for another mini-break.

Zverev has three set points.

It's straight back on serve. A perfect response from Rafael Jodar as he nestles a cross-court forehand deep into the corner.

Rafael Jodar's net play has been very impressive so far this afternoon and he creeps forward again to slam a winner.

But the first mini-break follows as Jodar cuts a forehand the wrong side of the chalk.

Rafael Jodar starts positively with a hold.

But it's a fine response from Alexander Zverev, who gets through his two serves without any hiccups.

Pressure back on Alexander Zverev.

A 10th forehand error of the match from the second seed allows Rafael Jodar to edge in front but Zverev atones and levels at 15-15 with some lovely net play.

Zverev moves within a point of the hold at 40-15 with an ace but the hold will have to wait. Jodar meets a drop shot at the net and cuts an extremely acute angle with the return for 40-30.

Jodar can't get to deuce as his forehand falls short.

This is feeling like one of the games we had right at the start of this match when neither was prepared to give up ground.

Alexander Zverev is definitely growing into this match.

The German hits another winner down the line for advantage and could be about to break again.

Trailing 30-0, Alexander Zverev gets two hands on the racquet and slides a backhand winner down the line to earn a foothold in this game.

Zverev closes in again at 40-30 when Jodar scuffs a forehand into the net.

And it's deuce when Jodar goes big from mid-court with a forehand slam and it doesn't have enough lift.

It's not job done yet for Alexander Zverev, though, as he needs to hold to stay in the set.

An ace is a pretty perfect way to start.

Zverev moves into a 40-0 lead when Rafael Jodar is at full stretch and finds the net with a backhand.

And there is the hold. The momentum might just be shifting.

Some nerves showing for Rafael Jodar?

The Spaniard has been so positive with the ball in hand but seems to have lost a little bit of confidence as he closes in on taking the set.

A reminder that Rafael Jodar has dropped just one point across his last three service games.

He's unable to maintain that control as the end of this set is within touching distance as Alexander Zverev wins the first couple of points.

Make that three successive points for the German as Jodar hooks his forehand wide. Three break points for Zverev.

Alexander Zverev isn't panicking just yet. The German continues to struggle on his first serve but he's doing just enough in this game to stay in control.

Zverev slams an overhead volley to seal the hold to 15.

Zverev is going to have to find some momentum because Jodar has made no mistakes.

Since a tense opening service game, Rafael Jodar has picked up successive holds to love.

Jodar leaps across the baseline to slam a winner down the line for 40-0. He's rising to the occasion.

But it won't be a hold to love if he gets over the line as Alexander Zverev executes a lovely drop shot. Jodar wraps up the hold to 15 when Zverev cuts into the net.

Zverev will serve to stay in the set.

Rafael Jodar manoeuvres himself into a position at the net over the course of three returns and then slams a winner for 0-15.

Jodar gets to 0-30 but loses a little momentum when he's stretched at the baseline and returns into the net.

Alexander Zverev is very casual with a forehand to the corner and it strays well wide to hand over two break points.

On the court, Rafael Jodar gets his second successive hold to love.

The 19-year-old has found his groove.

The roof is closed on Court Philippe Chatrier but there's a big downpour in Paris and it appears there are some gaps.

There are a few groans from the crowd as some spectators are getting soaked.
