    Hanfmann gets his revenge with a clever backhand drop shot of his own, but the next one doesn't work and Alcaraz gets there before stopping a pass with a brilliant winner on the stretch.

    He starts and finishes his service game with an ace and he's only a couple of games away from a place in the third round.

    The German player grits his teeth and works his way back into the game, but then he sends a forehand long to give Alcaraz the break.

    But the world number one goes big with his second serve, sending it out wide and leaving Yannick Hanfmann with no chance.

    While Yannick Hanfmann appears to be in some serious discomfort as he receives a massage, Carlos Alcaraz waits at the baseline and whirls his racquet about on his finger.

    Hanfmann is back on his feet and it looks like he is going to be fine to continue.

    Talk about angles! Yannick Hanfmann looks like he's caught Carlos Alcaraz with a great cross-court return, but the top seed gets there and squeezes it back with a sublime, angled winner across the court.

    And that's the second set done and dusted. He made lighter work of that one.

    We've hit the two hour mark on Rod Laver Arena and Carlos Alcaraz is serving for the second set.

    It looked it would be a straightforward service game for the world number one as he raced to a 30-0 lead, but he's been pulled back by a couple of unforced errors.

    Men's world number one Carlos Alcaraz is a set and a break up against Germany's Yannick Hanfmann at 7-6 (7-4) 4-2.

    Women's third seed Coco Gauff is closing in on victory against Olga Danilovic, leading 6-2 4-1.

    Elsewhere, men's 11th seed Daniil Medvedev has just wrapped up a comeback four-set victory over Quentin Halys.

    And, in case you missed it, a short while ago British players Emma Raducanu and Arthur Fery have both exited the tournament.

    But men's doubles top seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool are through to the second round following a straight-set win in their opener.
