I think maybe that dizziness or sickly feeling potentially has now evaporated for Sinner. He's starting to see the ball and it's sounding different.

Fantastic from Ben Shelton. He stays in the point and then gets Jannik Sinner scrambling with a perfectly placed lob. The Italian gets there and sends it back but Shelton is ready and waiting for the smash.

Sinner doesn't give Shelton another look, though, and he sends down a forehand winner to wrap up a big hold.

How did Jannik Sinner get that back? A 222km/h serve! It must have surprised Ben Shelton too because he plants the return straight into the net.

But the eighth seed recovers well and wins the next three points to restore a narrow lead.

The tournament would like an epic five-set thriller and I never thought I'd say this after the quality Sinner showed in that opening set but, right now, I think Shelton is hitting the ball better.

Sinner's been shanking a few and not doing the same damage or having the same impact but Shelton is - he's gained energy from what's happening at the other end.

Well played Ben Shelton. He's energised this match, the crowd and this is what he can do - electrify the fans. It went a bit flat but he's completely reignited the match.

Superb from Shelton! Jannik Sinner reaches his first drop shot but he can't get to the second, which he dinks delicately across the court.

The crowd loved that one. And they're on their feet as Shelton gets the hold over the line. They want to see more tennis.

Jannik Sinner did fade towards the end of his last match against fellow Italian Luciano Darderi, and it looks like the same thing is starting happen again here.

But even when he's looking fatigued, Sinner can find a way to get the job done and he grabs a love hold by keeping the points short.

Ben Shelton hammers a winner cross-court as he moves to game points, before Jannik Sinner finds the net.

    *Shelton 3-6 4-6 1-1 Sinner

A rare mis-hit from Jannik Sinner brings Ben Shelton into play at 15-15, but the Italian makes no mistakes with a crunching cross-court forehand to finish the next point.

Shelton gets a slice of luck with an actual slice which bobbles off the net cord, but Sinner fires in an ace to complete the job.

Whatever has been the matter with Jannik Sinner, it isn't preventing him from finding big winners. The defending champion gets stuck in to Ben Shelton's serve by putting away a backhand.

Shelton recovers well from there, though, winning four points on the bounce to make a positive start to set three.

If there are any doubts about how Sinner is feeling, Shelton should want to make him run and make it long and drawn out and make it a bit physical.
