    Si 3-4 Trump

Oh hello. As Si Jiahui goes through the gears with a 58, there are a few signs that Judd Trump is struggling.

The Englishman has a chance to pinch the seventh frame but undercuts a difficult pink to the corner. This match could well go down to the wire.

Mark Selby will be delighted to get his nose in front. Zhou Yuelong is 35 points behind with 35 on the table when he puts the final red over the left pocket.

And even when Selby does the honours but then misses the black it is three snookers required territory as we get to the brown.

Get Involved - Pocket talkpublished at 21:14 GMT 3 December 2025

Lots of talk on pocket size being tighter. Being an engineer for all my career, all manufactured products have a standard. In the old days British standard was the establishment that sent those standards. So a snooker pocket size would have a minimum and maximum size. Tolerance was part of the equation. Manufacturing parts cannot be made to perfect sizes. Tolerance build up in snooker is the ball size being maximum size against the pocket being smallest. If these are measured before a match and fall inside the tolerances, fine. Talk of tighter pockets is just a coincidence and not a change in standards?

    Colin, Dorset

The commentary team refer to the size of the pockets. What are the minimum and maximum sizes allowed for a competition snooker table?

    James, Bedfordshire

Pockets must conform to World Snooker templates. These give widths at the top of the cushion, of around 3½ inches for corner pockets and 4 inches for middle pockets. But you then have to remember that the cushion is slightly undercut.

But a dreadful miss on the following pink from Zhou Yuelong, gives the Englishman a reprieve and he tidies up to get back to 2-2.
