Mark Allen is 45 behind with 51 remaining but this frame could go either way still.

Allen just needs one miscue or a safety shot to go his way to give him room to clear the table but as of now, neither player is blinking.

We're approaching 30 minutes on the frame timer.

If Mark Allen is going to win this frame, it's going to be in bits and pieces. You don't envisage him winning it in one visit.

    I'll never learn.

Wu Yize misses an easy brown and the frame goes on!

Mark Allen gets back to the table but after potting the red, leaves himself with no option but to go for a snooker.

Allen trails 59-1 with 67 points left.

Bosh. That's how you break the no pot deadlock.

Brilliant long red from Wu Yize into the bottom left corner and he now looks almost certain to see this frame through.

Closing in on eight minutes since the last ball was potted. I think most frames were over in this time on Thursday!

This session is the stark contrast of what we got last night. Cagey and scrappy.

This is a very nice break being put together by Wu Yize.

Losing the opening frame certainly hasn't fazed him as he's once again cueing with confidence.

He's past the half-century but found himself deep in a pack and will have to go for a safety shot here rather than win it in one visit.

The difference a day can make on a snooker table is astonishing. We spend our lives trying to practice to try and make your worst performance as good as possible and negate the differences in standard but it's just impossible.

One day everything can be beautifully in tune and the next something can feel slightly off.

Well, it won't matter to him how he got there in the end - the important thing is that he got there.

Mark Allen takes the opening frame of the afternoon session and pulls to within three of Wu Yize.

A very contrasting frame to the ones that we saw on Thursday.

The last few visits to the table have been very un-Wu Yize-like. He was flawless last night.

When he got in first Wu Yize, you thought he would probably win the frame in one visit but since he hasn't, he has probably looked a bit edgy.

The jaws are getting some work in the early stages of this frame.

Both Mark Allen and Wu Yize have rattled the jaws of several of the pockets as they look to get a real grip of the game.

An edgy start, you could say.

The problem when you're 6-2 behind is that there is pressure on every shot. It's a horrible feeling when you're chasing matches.

And now up steps Wu Yize who is rattling them into the pockets quicker than I can type.

Stephen Hendry was spot on when he said Mark Allen may have to be perfect to get back into this.

Wu plays with incredible swagger for such a young age and never looks like missing.

    And then he misses.

    I'll just stop.

Two outstanding long reds to open the frame for Mark Allen who has started with confidence.

And as I type that, he catches a red in the bunch and watches on as the cue ball drops into the middle pocket.

    Incredibly unfortunate.

Mark Allen is pretty much going to have to play perfect snooker this afternoon to get back into this match.

  18. 'This kid is really special' - O'Sullivan on Wupublished at 14:36 BST 1 May

    Wu 6-2 Allen

Plenty of players and pundits are expecting Wu Yize to achieve great things in snooker - including Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Speaking in February, seven-time Crucible champion O'Sullivan said: "I think Wu Yize is going to be world number one, I'd give him three years. Definitely going to be world champion very, very soon, [he's a] phenomenal player.

"A lot of people liken him to Paul Hunter but I think he's more like a modern-day Steve Davis. He's more dynamic, more cue power, more aggressive, more scoring power but his positional play for me is on the level of Steve Davis, it always goes in the middle of the hole.

"I practised with him for two or three days in Hong Kong not long ago and it's not until you practise with someone that you can really appreciate how good they are. After day two I was like 'this kid is really special'.

"I'd just love to go and see him fulfil his potential as a professional. I expect him to do a lot of great things in snooker."

"The pride of Northern Ireland, Mark Allen" is introduced to the arena by Rob Walker.

As is Wu Yize, who is met with a big "Wuuuuuuu" by the crowd.

Onto the game! It should be a treat.

I love the way he [Wu Yize] is playing and the way he is putting these players out of their comfort zone. They do not know what he is going to go for. He is a breath of fresh air but I think if you're good enough, you're old enough.
