The lights are still on - just.

But all the broadcast feeds and televisions have gone down at the Crucible, with Mark Allen well on his way to winning the third frame.

One or two panicked journalists sprinted to the auditorium to check that play was still going and Allen has indeed won it with a break of 91.

Although I am now hearing that the players are going off.

Mark Allen needs to get into this match and quick. Once Wu Yize gets into rhythm he can become unplayable. If Allen doesn't take his chances, he will get severely punished.

    Wu 2-0 Allen

There is an issue with the TV coverage at the moment - it is being worked on and hopefully pictures will be restored as soon as possible.

  5. Postpublished at 19:53 BST 30 April

    Wu 2-0 Allen

Mark Allen runs out of position slightly, but plays a couple of excellent recovery pots on red and blue to get back in prime position.

His lead is up to 50 now and he's on course to get his first frame on the board.

  6. How long are the semi-finals?published at 19:51 BST 30 April

    Wu 2-0 Allen

The two semi-finals will be played over four sessions across the next three days.

After today's opening sessions, three sessions of play follow on both Friday and Saturday.

Semi-final matches are the best of 33 frames, so 17 is the target for victory.

The best-of-35-frames final will begin on Sunday, with the champion to be decided on Monday.

    Wu 2-0 Allen

Mark Allen was part of a sensational quarter-final against Barry Hawkins, the second session of which will live long in the memory for the quality of break-building on show.

But Allen fails to make the most of this chance, missing a red with the rest while also going into the pack. Break over on 12.

Wu Yize can only play safe with his next shot, though, and it's not the best - Allen starts up again with a red to the right middle.

    Wu 2-0 Allen

How will Mark Allen respond to losing that second frame? By potting a great long red with the cue ball tight on the baulk cushion.

    Outstanding.

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

That was a bad one for Mark Allen to lose.

He had found his feet and that's why that's so hurtful a frame because all of a sudden he's up the ladder and down the snake again.

We say it often, when all of a sudden the standard gets high and both players are playing well, you go 'how are you going to separate them?'

It's which player steals the most frames, wins the ones they shouldn't, and that's 1-0 to Wu Yize.

Now we're down to the final four, we can possibly have a slightly more educated guess at who will be lifting the trophy come Monday.

  11. Wu clears to win second framepublished at 19:42 BST 30 April

    Wu 2-0 Allen

That's a tremendous clearance of 55 by Wu Yize to take a 2-0 lead.

I should never have doubted him.

    Wu 1-0 Allen

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

These are great frames to win - a steal from someone who has made a 59 break and was looking good to win it himself.

This would hurt Mark early on, what a blow to deliver in this semi-final.

  13. Postpublished at 19:40 BST 30 April

    Wu 1-0 Allen

A wry smile on the face of Mark Allen as he drags a red over the corner and sees that the cue ball will travel through a small corridor to pot it if Wu Yize elects to go for it.

"There's always a gap," as the late, great John Virgo would say.

Wu does pot it, and also the black over the opposite corner.

Still plenty of work to do to win the frame at this visit.

  14. Postpublished at 19:38 BST 30 April

    Wu 1-0 Allen

Mark Allen hits a red at the second time of asking and it lands safe.

The red would have been on for Wu Yize, but the black is guarding the left corner pocket.

Two of the four remaining reds are safe on the right side cushion so a clearance from here would be pretty unlikely.

  15. Postpublished at 19:36 BST 30 April

    Wu 1-0 Allen

Mark Allen misses a very tricky cut-back black so his break ends on 59. He's 43 ahead with 59 left on the table.

The balls are perfectly placed for Wu Yize to play a snooker behind the yellow and Allen is taking some time to think about his escape.

I think Wu Yize will win this year's title. Looks the most comfortable at the table for me. Will be all down to whether he can hold his nerve if he reaches the final.

    Wu 1-0 Allen

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

So far it's been a good response from Mark Allen.

The break is 42 and counting, with three or four loose reds still pottable. A frame-winning chance for the man from Northern Ireland.

  18. Postpublished at 19:30 BST 30 April

    Wu 1-0 Allen

Wu Yize's latest break ends on 16 and gives Mark Allen a chance of a counter-punch.

He levels the score at 16-16 with an excellent red from distance up into the green pocket.

    Wu 1-0 Allen

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

I'm not saying it's ominous but that's a champion in the making - I'm not saying this year guaranteed, and Mark Allen will have something to say in this match.

But when you see someone coming through the ranks and make what looks like the most nervous situation into another game down the club, you know maybe we're in the presence of a great future champion.

  20. Postpublished at 19:26 BST 30 April

    Wu 1-0 Allen

Misses of long reds by both players early in frame two.

Wu Yize's was the easier of the two, but he didn't leave anything easy. Mark Allen did, and so off Wu goes in search of another frame-winning break.
