I think that today Shaun will have trouble with his breaks because Wu's thing is the long pots, so I think Shaun will be forced to change his break to the old style.

A tremendous long red from Shaun Murphy to set him up on the black. He pots that with no issues but then misses a relatively easy yellow and allows Wu Yize in.

Wu pots the yellow but misses a simple green of his own!

    The nerves are jangling.

Would be awesome if Shaun wins it 21 years after his first, which has to be a record, come on Shaun.

    SB

It would be a record between a player's first and second Crucible victory if Shaun Murphy wins the final. There were also 21 years between Ronnie O'Sullivan's first and seventh world titles - but obviously he won a few in between.

    Curse of the live texter.

Wu Yize misses a red to the bottom right. Shaun Murphy can't capitalise and Wu comes back to the table but there's nothing easy on here.

    He's 58 ahead with 59 remaining.

On the action itself, Wu Yize has started to build nicely.

After a couple of tentative efforts from both, Wu's nerves seem to have lifted.

He's onto a break of 35, 48 on the scoreboard.

Barring anything disastrous, he looks set to take the first frame of the final.

A nice tribute to the late John Virgo by a couple of supporters in the crowd.

One wearing a shirt with the words "Is there a gap?" on, while the other, of course, wearing one that says, "There's always a gap!"

    Lovely touch, fellas.

Strap yourselves in, this could be the final of all finals! Remarkable to think Wu was just an 18-month-old toddler when Shaun won his world title 21 years ago. Let the best man win!

Is that a certain former England and Arsenal goalkeeping legend in the crowd on the front row? It absolutely is.

David Seaman gets a bit of love from the commentary team and can't help but smile as the camera pans on him.

    Murphy 0-0 Wu

Shaun Murphy kicks things off with the first pot of the day, knocking in a lovely long red.

He follows that up with a snooker behind the green and forces Wu Yize into an early foul.

A 5-0 lead for 'The Magician' as we enter the first safety shot battle of the final.

I suppose the first question is, has Wu Yize recovered from last night and all the drama that unfolded?

A moment that will replay in Mark Allen's head forever more.

He was a black ball away from taking part in today's final but after one of the more surreal misses you'll see, Wu Yize capitalised to take the semi-final to a final-frame decider before eventually taking the win.

Wu Yize's victory means China have a finalist for a second successive year and it vindicates his decision to move to the UK as a 16-year-old to pursue his dream.

Wu, who initially lived in a windowless flat and slept on the same bed as his father after the move, is now just one win away from the sport's biggest prize and a winner's cheque of £500,000.

And judging by the manner he advanced past Lei Peifan, Mark Selby, Hossein Vafaei and now Mark Allen, he looks ready follow to in the footsteps of last year's champion Zhao Xintong - having been tipped as a future world champion by both Ronnie O'Sullivan and Shaun Murphy.

For most of Saturday evening, Mark Allen had held himself together across several captivating frames, which never threatened to teeter towards Friday's gruelling second session between the pair - which produced the longest frame ever played at the sport's most famous venue.

The former Masters and UK Champion enjoyed runs of 82 and 57 as he edged in front three times only to be pegged back at 14-14 by Wu, who rarely deviated from his attacking style and was rewarded with breaks of 50, 126 and 74.

Allen regained the initiative with a composed 65, and when Wu missed a red to the left middle while on 58, it allowed his opponent to deliver a devastating riposte to move 16-14 up.

But with the winning line in sight Allen twitched on a red to the middle in the following frame to set in chain a remarkable sequence of events.

Northern Irishman Allen had been aiming to become the oldest first-time finalist in Crucible history, having lost in the semi-finals twice previously.

However, at the age of 40 and with 20 failed attempts to win snooker's greatest prize behind him, he may now be left wondering whether his time will ever come.
