  1. Wu extends lead to threepublished at 14:49 BST 3 May

    Murphy 0-3 Wu

Well, that's one way to end the frame.

It's Wu Yize that ends up putting Shaun Murphy into a snooker.

Murphy not only misses the pink, but watches on as the cue ball rolls into the pocket.

Wu clears the table up and extends his lead to three.

It hasn't been pretty, but it's been pretty perfect for Wu on the scoreboard up to now.

    Murphy 0-2 Wu

Now it really is deja vu.

Wu Yize drops the blue ball over the pocket, forcing Shaun Murphy into the pot.

With just the pink and the black left, Murphy needs a minor miracle.

He's 14 behind with 13 left on the table.

Earlier in this frame, a woman jumped over the barrier and was stopped by referee Rob Spencer before being escorted out of the arena.

She was using expletives and talking about the TV licence.

I'm not sure many of us expected any frames this long between these two.

We've just surpassed the 35-minute mark.

Still a long way to go before we reach the lofty heights of that frame that took place between Wu Yize and Mark Allen, mind.

It looks like a slight hangover right now. Understandable from the two semi-finals they went through. Both went through the wringer. It hasn't been pretty.

At some point you would expect Shaun Murphy to land a telling snooker. Wu Yize may regret these opportunities.

  7. Postpublished at 14:34 BST 3 May

    Murphy 0-2 Wu

This has a bit of a deja vu feeling to frame one.

Wu Yize needs one colour here to essentially finish the frame, while Shaun Murphy is chasing that one snooker.

    Neither player is blinking.

    Murphy 0-2 Wu

    That's one snooker.

A perfect shot from Shaun Murphy drops the cue ball right behind the yellow and Wu Yize can't escape.

An intriguing battle between the two is ongoing right now.

Wu has begun playing far safer than he perhaps was doing earlier in the frame.

    Murphy 0-2 Wu

A reprieve it was, but not for long.

Shaun Murphy makes a bit of a mess of two of his positional shots and allows Wu Yize back in once more.

Murphy now requires two snookers to get back into this. He's behind by 40 with 35 remaining.

    Murphy 0-2 Wu

What a reprieve for Shaun Murphy.

In an attempt to cannon the cue ball into the pack of reds, Wu Yize misses the black to the corner and allows Murphy back in.

Wu leads by 48 with 59 remaining.

Is Wu Yize going to punish Shaun Murphy again?

For the second frame in a row, on a break of 13, Murphy misses using the rest.

He allows Wu to the table and the 22-year-old has already built himself up beyond the half-century mark.

Absolutely no signs of nerves from the young man in these early stages.

Another day, another warning to the crowd.

Prior to frame three getting under way, the referee orders someone inside the Crucible Theatre to turn their phone onto silent.

It [Shaun Murphy's break style] has been so effective but every now and again it can go wrong if you don't catch it absolutely perfectly.

He's conscious that Wu is such a great long potter, he has to get it right and this time he didn't get it right.

  14. Wu punishes Murphypublished at 14:03 BST 3 May

    Murphy 0-2 Wu

    No is the answer.

Wu Yize knocks in a tough pink to the corner and punishes Shaun Murphy to the absolute maximum.

A perfect start for the 22-year-old.

Murphy needs to recompose himself after that one.

    Murphy 0-1 Wu

Wow. Shaun Murphy looked destined to clear up there.

He misses a green with the rest and looks fuming with himself.

Will Wu Yize give him another chance?

    Murphy 0-1 Wu

After a fantastic green that takes him to a break of 36, Wu Yize misses a long red and allows Shaun Murphy back to the table.

The Englishman opens his break up with a lovely plant. A good score here from 'The Magician' will do his confidence the world of good.

The table in front of him looks very appetising.

  17. Postpublished at 13:51 BST 3 May

    Murphy 0-1 Wu

That's a tough start to frame two for Shaun Murphy.

'The Magician' gets his vintage break-off from this year's World Championship all wrong.

It allows Wu Yize a pretty open field of reds to take his pick from.

He still needs to deal with a couple of impediments but he's up to a break of 32 right now.

It will give Wu confidence knowing he's beaten Shaun in the second-biggest tournament in the Masters. I like the fact he has got that X-factor and he is going to make it difficult for Shaun today. He can pot them off the lampshades.

  20. Wu takes opening framepublished at 13:45 BST 3 May

    Murphy 0-1 Wu

    There we go!

A lot of attempted snookers from Shaun Murphy but with just the pink and black left on the table towards the back end, it was an incredibly tough ask.

Wu Yize takes the opening frame of the World Championship final.
