Shaun Murphy has lost six of the past eight frames. This young lad [Wu] has been awesome.

Wu is all over Shaun like a rash, he's not giving him a minute to breathe.

Shaun's an unbelievably attacking player and goes for his shots, but I'm not sure if he goes for the plant if he's playing Mark Allen in the final or John Higgins.

  4. Wu pulls three aheadpublished at 21:20 BST 3 May

    Murphy 6-9 Wu

They think the frame is all over... it is now.

Wu Yize makes amends for missing the red a few minutes ago by nailing an even tougher shot on it.

He then goes on to clear the table.

It ensures Wu will take a lead as we head into day two. Still two more frames of this session to go, though.

Oooooh! The frame is not over yet.

Wu Yize looks to knock the final red into the corner pocket but again, the jaws have their way.

He allows Shaun Murphy back to the table with the Englishman trailing by 37, with 35 remaining.

    Murphy 6-8 Wu

For the first time in this session, both players have started making a few errors.

Shaun Murphy looks to have made a real costly one, though.

He tries a delicate plant onto a couple of reds into the corner using the rest but the jaws have their way and it doesn't quite drop in.

That opens things up for Wu Yize and the 22-year-old from China needs no second invitations. Already up over the half-century mark - can he win yet another frame in one visit?

We are being treated to an incredible array of shots from both players.

Well, disturbance aside, Shaun Murphy hasn't been put off.

A couple of wonderful shots already in this frame gets him to a break of 29 before he has to settle for a snooker.

Much better from 'The Magician', though.

Yet another phone goes off inside the Crucible Theatre just as Shaun Murphy is about to take a shot and the 43-year-old heads back to his seat in disgust.

The third or fourth phone already this evening, I believe?

This time, the audience member is identified and is asked to leave the arena.

They can't say they weren't warned... referee Rob Spencer asked for phones to be switched off before the session started and again after the mid-session interval.

    It's a brilliant match.

It's excellent from Shaun because he's been hit by a barrage tonight really.

You can't show weakness in this type of game. In a game where there's lots of safety, you can have the odd miss because it's not flowing. But in this kind of game, if you get a chance, you've got to score.

  11. Murphy claws one backpublished at 20:58 BST 3 May

    Murphy 6-8 Wu

Shaun Murphy does indeed get back on the board.

The first frame of the mini-session for 'The Magician', who ends with a break of 70.

He was helped by that cue ball dropping in the middle pocket at the beginning of the frame but he still had to do the hard work and he got the job done.

A big weight off the Englishman's shoulders.

Nice stuff this from Shaun Murphy, who is back on the table and building nicely.

He's got a lovely field of reds in front of him and looks destined for his second frame of the session all being well.

'The Magician' is 55 ahead with 67 remaining.

You feel he needs to finish this one off to halt the momentum of Wu Yize.

Oh that is so, so unfortunate.

Off the back of Shaun Murphy's break-off, Wu Yize once again nails a glorious long red into the corner pocket but - just like the previous frame - watches on as his cue ball somehow drops into the middle pocket.

A let-off for Murphy who comes to the table and produces a break of nine before having to take his seat once more.

If we see a player play an overly aggressive shot, we rip them to pieces. In here, we rip them to pieces. If Wu Yize is missing these shots we would be but he isn't missing them.

The likes of Wu Yize are changing snooker to make it a much more aggressive game and this is how these new players need to play it.

What a player. He's just brilliant. He plays the game properly and goes for the shots.

He's obviously at a stage of his career when he's not had many scars and he's not thinking about the consequences of missing. He's just having fun.

The important thing is when he's playing shots, he's fully committing to them. There are no thoughts of bailing out at any stage.

  18. Wu extends his lead to threepublished at 20:46 BST 3 May

    Murphy 5-8 Wu

Wu Yize doesn't get the century this time but he does get the frame.

An 89 break in the end for the 22-year-old who is on fire right now and extends his lead to three.

So far in this session, if a mistake is made by Shaun Murphy, he is jumping all over it.

  19. Postpublished at 20:43 BST 3 May

    Murphy 5-7 Wu

A 77 break now for Wu Yize and that should be enough for the frame but he isn't done there.

A possible 128 on the cards but it isn't easy.

  20. Postpublished at 20:40 BST 3 May

    Murphy 5-7 Wu

Wu Yize is cueing wonderfully when he gets the opportunity.

It's not a straightforward looking break that has presented itself to him but he is making it look that way right now.

Up to a break of 48, he is certainly back on that brave decision making we have seen so often throughout this tournament.

"This is awesome," says Dennis Taylor on commentary.
