This match has been brilliant from start to finish.

That twelfth frame was the longest of the match, but it was so dramatic. It's been a brilliant match.

Barry Hawkins is doing all the scoring, that is worrying for Mark Williams.

He needs to try to get in early. He's making unforced errors and has missed a couple of blacks off the spot.

He needs to start scoring if he is going to win this match, or at least stop Barry.

  3. Hawkins goes three uppublished at 21:44 BST 24 April

    Hawkins 8-5 Williams

Barry Hawkins takes a three-frame lead.

Hawkins' break of 38 ends with a miss on brown, but Mark Williams can only pot one red before having to play a safety.

After a series of safeties, Hawkins compiles a break of 31 and Williams concedes at 69-1.

It's been pretty gruelling stuff but with incredible endings to the frames. It's still exciting stuff.

It's always good to see Mark Williams under a bit of pressure because he usually responds really well. We saw him fail a bit there, but then he got his lifeline.

What an awful shot for Barry to be stewing over during the interval - will that fluked pink change this session?

    Hawkins 7-5 Williams

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Four

Barry Hawkins has been by far the better player. Mark Williams' game has been littered with unforced errors right from the first frame.

What a result to get that last frame, because he was all over the place. he just couldn't pot the pink.

  7. A crucial moment in this match?published at 21:25 BST 24 April

    Hawkins 7-5 Williams

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at the Crucible

If that had gone 8-4 in a first-to-13, Barry Hawkins would have really fancied getting the win, which would surely be one of the best of his career.

But now there's only two frames back in it and that fluked pink, which missed the target middle pocket, only to then travel diagonally into the yellow pocket, could well be a pivotal point in this one.

We're only at the halfway point of this session, with this being the only show in town after Shaun Murphy wrapped up business early by thrashing Xiao Guodong 13-3 earlier on.

Four more frames to go tonight.

Are we not entertained? Cracking match and I love the interaction with the crowd from both players.

  9. Williams pulls one backpublished at 21:10 BST 24 April

    Hawkins 7-5 Williams

After that Mark Williams miss earlier, Barry Hawkins replies with a break of 59 to go 14 points in front, but misses on green to let Williams off the hook.

A gritty tactical battle follows, with Williams playing a great double to get out of a snooker and reach the green.

Both players trade fouls before Williams pots the blue to leave a tricky shot on the pink to the middle - it clips the jaws!

That gives Hawkins a lifeline, but he misses on pink.

Williams misses pink again, but it flicks over to the other corner and in!

    How dramatic was that.

Someone in the crowd shouts "come on Mark," and Mark Williams responds by jokingly inviting them to play the tricky shot that awaits him.

He's still got his humour despite trailing in this tough frame.

The standard of this match - you can see it going the whole way, they cancel each other out with their great play.

I can't see one of them running away with it.

    Hawkins 7-4 Williams

Mark Williams works hard to craft a break of 46, but gets the angle wrong on a red that you'd expect him to make.

Can Barry Hawkins punish him with another clearance?

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

Barry Hawkins has found a gear. He looks like he is making his move.

Maybe he senses some weakness from Williams who has missed two or three.

It started with that missed black off the spot in the first frame of the evening, that can set the tone.

  14. Hawkins hits centurypublished at 20:27 BST 24 April

    Hawkins 7-4 Williams

Barry Hawkins is on a roll.

The Hawk compiles an excellent break of 113 to win the 11th frame inside 15 minutes.

That's his second century of this match - the 525th of his career - after he hit a 127 in frame one.

Hawkins holds a three-frame lead with one frame to go until the mid-session interval.

    Hawkins 6-4 Williams

    Steven Hallworth
    Snooker commentator on BBC Four

We've seen more misses toight than we saw in the whole of the first session.

Does that open a window of opportunity for Barry Hawkins to take control of this match? He is looking very sharp once again.

    Hawkins 6-4 Williams

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Four

What a great shot that was. Fantastic, stroked it in and got enough movement on the cue ball to get down the table.

It helps that the cloths are fast, but even so it had to be struck well.

What a frame of snooker - it had everything.

Mark Williams did so well to get 50 on the board - maybe he went one shot too much. The snookering from Williams was astonishing.

But who could have foreseen Hawkins would clear up from there.

    Hawkins 6-4 Williams

Barry Hawkins comes from 61-0 down to win the frame 66-61!

Hawkins clears up after Mark Williams' miss, including a superb pot on a pink right up against the top cushion.

Williams will be kicking himself - he should have played safe but instead missed a tough pot that allowed Hawkins back in.

What a frame that turned out to be.

This a great chance for Barry Hawkins, but he should not have been allowed to have it.

    Hawkins 5-4 Williams

Barry Hawkins finally escapes from the brown but can't pot.

Mark Williams smashes in a red and the rebound opens up the black, but at 61 points ahead he misses a red instead of playing a safety shot.

    Hawkins has a chance.
