It is very messy as Glasgow attack with ball in hand in the 22, and worryingly Sale's Rekeiti Ma’asi-White has gone down and looks groggy.

Arron Reed misjudges that breeze and kicks out on the full, giving Glasgow a lineout in the Sale half. They get the ball back at an infringement and Adam Hastings kicks to the corner.

It is on for Glasgow, they were tightening up the Sale defence there and Sale were actually starting to dog-leg.

Now the dog-leg worked for them there but if Glasgow can compose themselves there are gaps to be had.

At last! A bit of broken play rugby breaks out, with both sides running it back at each other all around the halfway line in Glasgow's half.

There have been a few fumbles - it's not an easy night, ball will be greasy but it's not actually raining at the moment.

Sale are making full use of the breeze, lots of box kicks are pinning Glasgow back.

Glasgow have been pinned back but a sharp break from winger Kyle Steyn relieves some of the pressure until a knock on gives Sale a scrum just into Glasgow's half.

The first scrum is a put-in for Sale in their own half, it collapses twice and Glasgow are penalised - Du Preez again uses the wind with a long hoof downfield.

Glasgow are playing into the teeth of a strong wind, which Rob Du Preez uses with a long penalty kick into touch in Glasgow's 22.

Adam Hastings gets us under way with a kick almost under the Sale posts. Sharks run it back eventually, but Glasgow are getting their hands on the ball a touch more than the hosts.

Right, here we go, the teams are out on a cold, wet and windy night by the M60. Most of the fans look very well wrapped up.

How big a miss will George Ford be tonight? He had some sublime moments for England in the Autumn series, but Sale are without his services for now.

After being forced to miss out on the Lions tour of Australia due toi a calf injury, Zander Fagerson is back up to speed having turned out for Scotland against Tonga, and returns to club colours as well for this Champions Cup opener.

Sale's England flanker Tom Curry plays tonight after it emerged he will not be punished for a tunnel confrontation after the recent England v Argentina game.

Argentina coach Felipe Contepomi accused Curry of being a "bully", claiming the 27-year-old pushed him in the chest as the pair argued over a tackle which left the Pumas full-back Juan Cruz Mallia with knee ligament damage.

However, after reviewing security camera footage from Allianz Stadium and taking statements from those involved, the Six Nations, which organises the autumn series, has opted against taking action.
