We can't be let down today. It's important that England finish strong.

Attack coach Lee Blackett, originally seconded from Bath for the summer tour of the Americas and now in the post permanently, has overseen the past six wins, adding some slickness and variety with ball in hand.

Since his appointment, England have moved the ball more widely, more accurately and more quickly than they did in the first part of this year.

The proportion of attacking phases in which the ball is moved 20 metres laterally from the previous breakdown has nearly doubled.

While England have kicked slightly less during Blackett's time in the set-up, the proportion in which they have contested the regather with the opposition has more than trebled.

The share of rucks completed in less than three seconds has jumped 10%.

Elliot Daly, 33, and George Ford, 32, who last started a Test match together against France in March 2024, jog up and down the centre of the pitch, fizzing perfect spiral passes between them as England get loosened off.

At the opposite end, Santiago Carreras, wearing a replacements yellow bib as a bench-warmer today, is pinging for the sticks off the tee. The Bath playmaker is right at the top of the Test goalkicking stats for the year, landing 87.8% of his kicks. Only Handre Pollard (95.5%) has a better success rate and the South African has taken less than half as many shots at goal.

Alex Coles, benefitting in part to the absence of Ollie Chessum and George Martin, is making his third successive Test start in the second row, matching the longest streak in his career.

The 26-year-old gets the front page of the programme today.

Inside there is an interview with his Northampton team-mate Henry Pollock. He talks about his exuberant, sometimes pre-planned, celebrations.

"It all started from just believing in myself," he says in an interview written up from England Rugby's own podcast., external "I'd never want to rein myself in. When you start playing within yourself, that's when you start doubting your ability."

He also says that when he goes back to his family home in Oxfordshire he is "still that annoying 13-year-old that never changed".

Norberto Mastrocola is here on business, as well as pleasure. He played for Argentina back in 1977, appearing against France, and is now a freelance commentator and reporter, based in Italy.

He thinks today's game is too close to call, backing the modern-day Pumas to put up a big fight.

He was in England for the women's World Cup earlier this year and sings the praises of York and Exeter as hosts cities and the tournament in general.

We chatted briefly about the possibility of a Rugby World Cup being staged in South America in 2035, a possibility raised by former Puma and current World Rugby council member Augustin Pichot in an interview in the Times this week., external

"If I am still alive, I will be there!," says Mastrocola. "It would be great."

Argentina are aiming to complete a hat-trick of wins on their northern hemisphere tour, having thrashed Wales 52-28 and fought back to overcome Scotland 33-24 last weekend.

This Argentina team have bona fide stars, a passionate heart and the ability to beat anyone if they get into their groove.

France-based stars Marcos Kremer and Juan Cruz Mallia, who missed the two Test defeats by England in July, are back in harness, while eight of the starting XV are established Prem performers.

"Argentina are a quality side - I play with a number of them, they are extremely talented," said England captain Maro Itoje.

"We have seen what they have done in the Rugby Championship and they beat us here a couple of years ago [2022's 30-29 defeat].

"We know their danger and quality and they can definitely hurt us."

From the shadow of the Andes to the shadow of the Allianz Stadium is a journey of about 7,000 miles.

And last autumn, Rodrigo Isgro was feeling every one of them.

Sporting a conquistador moustache and thighs as thick as a gaucho's steak, the culture shock was severe when the Argentina wing arrived at Harlequins.

It wasn't just a new country, a new club and a new language, but also a new game.

"Marcus [Smith] is a very good friend," says Mendoza-born Isgro.

"He was really good when I arrived in England. He gave up a lot of time for me, as well as patience and understanding.

"My English was not very good - I didn't speak it. He is a really good friend, he drinks 'mate' with me every day."
