  5. 'Caluori gives us an edge'published at 15:02 GMT 6 December 2025

    FT: Saracens 47-10 Clermont

Saracens full-back Elliot Daly speaking to Premier Sports:

"We’ve started games well but we’ve not been consistent, we’ve let teams back in. That was the big message at half-time.

"To keep them to 10 points is testament to us but it's one game and hopefully we can go again next week against the Sharks.

"Having Max (Malins) back is brilliant, he understands the game so well. Noah (Caluori) gives us an edge in tight games. He is trying to learn every day and he’s doing really well."

  6. 'Good first step in Europe'published at 14:57 GMT 6 December 2025

    FT: Saracens 47-10 Clermont

Man-of-the-match Hugh Tizard, speaking to Premier Sports:

"We had a really good week building up to it against a physical Clermont side.

"We always say we decide who wins. We worked hard at the set-piece and to win games you have to have a dominant set-piece.

"It was good to get a try. We've had an up and down season but that's a good first step in Europe."

On the game against the Sharks next week:

"Going out to South Africa is always a challenge but we're looking forward to it.

    Saracens 47-10 Clermont

A one-sided contest comes to an end with Saracens claiming a thoroughly deserved win.

They had four tries by half-time and added three more in the second half to brush aside a young Clermont team.

Job done for Sarries as they take a bonus point win in their opening match.

Clermont did score a couple of tries in the second half but never threatened to make it a contest.

    Theo Dan (con: Burke)

Charlie Bracken's eyes light up as he spots an opportunity for a try but he is beaten by the bounce.

No matter though as fellow sub Theo Dan collects an overthrown Clermont line-out to score Saracens' seventh try.

    Not Clermont's finest hour there.

    Hugh Tizard (con Burke)

Just like in the first half, Saracens score immediately after Clermont get on the scoresheet.

Elliot Daly shows his class to make the break and passes to second row High Tizard who celebrates a little prematurely as he slowly makes his way to the line and a Clermont defender attempts the steal - to no avail.

Fergus Burke adds the conversion to take Saracens to 40.

    Try - Saracens 33-10 Clermontpublished at 14:39 GMT 6 December 2025

    Harry Plummer

Clermont get a second - but should they have?

Fly-half Harry Plummer takes an offload and powers over the line under pressure from Nick Tompkins.

Plummer seems to lose the ball as puts it down - but does it go backwards rather than forwards?

That's what Hollie Davidson thinks so the try stands.

Plummer can't convert his try though.

    Saracens 33-5 Clermont

    Clermont have an attacking line-out.

They win it and go on the offensive.

    Saracens 33-5 Clermont

Bautista Delguy is a talented wing but we've seen precious little of him today.

Full-back Axel Guillaud - who scored Clermont's try - has been one of their better performers. The teenager looks a good prospect.

There are a lot of young and inexperienced players out there for Clermont - including four teenagers - and they have given it their all but it has not been enough to unduly trouble Saracens.

    Saracens 33-5 Clermont

Saracens number eight Tom Willis was on his knees when he moved the ball over the line so this one won't count.

Disappointment for Willis but it won't have much impact on the outcome.

    Saracens 33-5 Clermont

Hollie Davidson thinks Sarries have another try - it's a bit of a mess on the ground.

We're just waiting for the verdict.

An hour on the clock and there's just a bit of a lull in the game as a number of subs are made.

Owen Farrell the latest to depart with Fergus Burke on for the final 20.

    Saracens 33-5 Clermont

That's the end of Noah Caluori's afternoon - another fine try to add to the growing highlights reel.

Rotimi Segun is on in his place.

Clermont have also brought on four-cap All Black George Moala. He's since switched to play internationally for Tonga and has been at Clermont since 2018 making more than 100 appearances.

  17. Replacementspublished at 52 mins

    Saracens 33-5 Clermont

The familiar figure of Clermont coach Christophe Urios is on the sidelines and has seen enough to make five subs at once.

Experienced Aussie Rob Simmons is among the new faces - along with some rather more inexperienced youngsters.

    Noah Caluori (con: Farrell)

    Comeback over...

Saracens winger Noah Calouri shows why he is so highly thought of by beating his man with an outside arcing run and then gliding across the turf to run the ball in from 30 metres out.

    What a star he is.

    Try - Saracens 26-5 Clermontpublished at 14:08 GMT 6 December 2025

    Axel Guillaud

A good move from the line-out and the ball is moved along the line nicely to full-back Axel Guillaud and the 19-year-old goes over to give Clermont first blood in the second period.

    That came out of nowhere!

    Harry Plummer misses the conversion.

    Saracens 26-0 Clermont

Sarries scrum-half Ivan van Zyl makes a rare error from the restart as the second period gets started in rather chaotic fashion.

It's not long before the hosts have the ball back again but then as I type that Clermont get a penalty.

The ball is pumped into the Saracens 22 for a line-out.

    Chance?
