Wales just need to keep this momentum going. This loss doesn't bother me one bit at all because we can see what we're working towards. Hopefully the same 15 can start next week.

    Dave, Swansea

Ireland not as good as they think. Wales better than people think. Good refereeing performance. Wales deserved the losing bonus point. Pushed Ireland a lot more than England did, and England were at home. Andy Farrell overrated as a coach.

    Elfed, Wales

Ireland too strong in the end, but a much improved performance from Wales.

It's a huge game next week against Italy, if we can come here and deliver a match like that there's hope.

That was the best game Wales has played so far.

The little mistakes and starting strong needs to improve, but we're getting there.

Well done Cymru!! Yes, we lost, But...good building on from last week's close loss to Scotland and Ireland were 30 point winners with the bookies pre-game and you boys left it all on the field! Definitely an improvement again! You'll get there boys! Well done!

  4. 'That felt like a proper Test match' - Stockdalepublished at 22:17 GMT 6 March

    FT: Ireland 27-17 Wales

Ireland's Jacob Stockdale talking on ITV: "That felt like a proper Test match, Wales brought a lot of physicality and they're a team on the rise, they're improving massively you saw that last week and today so fair play to them. Overall though we did a really good job."

On the defensive nature of the game: "We talked during the week about how it was going to be a massively collision dominated game and it was a day for tackling but I loved it out there it was great."

On his try: "That was pretty special for me. It's been a hard few years and it's nice to get back on the scoresheet on this pitch and in front of these fans, I'm very thankful for it."

A few naïve penalties and decision-making from Wales but, ultimately, a positive performance and result.

Wales defended well but Ireland didn't hit near the heights they did last time out. I thought that when they scored early in the second half they would kick on but they never really did.

  7. 'Mistakes cost us'published at 22:11 GMT 6 March

    FT: Ireland 27-17 Wales

Wales fly-half Dan Edwards speaking on S4C: "It's hard to take, we were great at times but mistakes cost us.

"We were more fresh, we stayed in the game and the effort was immense.

"We just need a win now, Scotland were great, same with Ireland tonight but we need the win next week against Italy."

As Tommy rightly points out, Ireland are two thirds of the way there to winning the Triple Crown.

The overall title may not be, but it's very much in their hands as Scotland come to Dublin next week in a Triple Crown shootout.

On tonight's evidence, they will have to improve for that one.

Lots of positives and lots of work-ons for Ireland but, ultimately, the Triple Crown is still on and a bonus point win is all you can ask for.

For Wales to come to the Aviva and make such a game of it is great progress again. Wales haven't won here since 2012 and you can see why.

It is such a hard place to go to but they have played so well.

Wales are looking to end on a high, not the ultimate high of winning but you have to say it's been refreshing.

Coming to the Aviva and putting a game to Ireland, yes it's not a win but it's positive.

There's a shot of Andy Farrell after the game and it's a face of relief, rather than joy.

Wales really pushed his side there.

Is it me, or have we seen zero kicks for territory all game? Hugely physical game. Great watch

If you told me 3 weeks ago that Wales would be in contention for 75+ minutes against both Scotland and Ireland I wouldn’t have believed you. So so many positives can come out of this six nations for Wales.

Wales win the penalty from the scrum and Edwards thumps it into the 22 as they look for a losing bonus point, which is the very least they deserve.

Not a vintage Ireland display but Wales have battled so hard and made it difficult for the hosts.

What do I know? Ireland immediately kick it away.

Josh Adams tries to get in out wide but Baloucoune does really well to drag him into touch.

Play is brought back for a Welsh scrum as we move into the final 90 seconds.

Ireland take the kick-off and you'd imagine it'll be a case of just running the clock down now and not doing anything silly.
