South Africa are getting plenty of joy off their line-out with the set-piece providing a great platform to launch attacks.

Ireland's attempts to halt their flow are about to become all the harder with James Ryan's evening over too.

Again, as you can imagine, the crowd were not best pleased.

It was daft from Ryan, and I don't think he can have too many complaints. But it all comes from that early hit from Feinberg-Mngomezulu on O'Brien, which went without a card.

    Oh my.

James Ryan's yellow card has been upgraded to a 20-minute red.

Ireland have 13 minutes to ride this one out.

Mack Hansen does really well to watch Feinberg-Mngomezulu's kick, which just bounced into the in-goal area.

Ryan’s clear-out is without doubt a penalty, but it’s half as bad as the SA no arms tackle to the head.

    Tom, Nottingham

If that’s not a straight red for Ryan, I don’t know what is. Disgraceful behaviour on a rugby pitch.

    Em, Scotland

So that's a yellow but the SA one wasn't? Pick and choose officiating.

So that's a try, two disallowed tries, one yellow card, one very contentious non-yellow card and we're only 26 minutes in.

This has been as full-throttled as everyone expected.

The officials have been busy so far.

It's now been ruled out for a forward pass by Wiese to Etzebeth.

That was almost like a GAA pass, which is more akin to Croke Park across the city.

You cannot afford to give South Africa clean ball at a lineout and let them form a maul. How they navigate without James Ryan - be it for 10 or 20 minutes - is crucial.

But was there a forward pass?

Feinberg-Mngomezulu sends the ball so high it comes down with snow on it but Hansen does well to tip it back on the Ireland side.

O'Brien comes away with the ball but boots the ball straight into touch, and the Boks will have the throw just outside the 22.

Tadhg Beirne hammers Reinach with a great hit through the ruck and Ireland win the ball back again.

Willemse tries to kick the ball through but it goes out of play off Mack Hansen, who still has some strapping on that right arm and hand.

He was illegal and James Ryan could be in even bigger trouble. The referee initially said the contact was 'glancing' on the head but I think it's more than that.

Now here come the Boks. Who are flinging it through the hands just outside the Irish 22.

That is a definite yellow... not only leading with the shoulder and no attempt to wrap but made an extra movement of the shoulder into the head of the attacker. Yellow all day long.

    Dan, Northumberland

I like to think I can predict most dangerous play outcomes card-wise (a yellow with a review is often the most obvious answer), but the Beirne decision in Chicago, and that no arms tackle a moment ago have baffled me.

    Peter, Bath

As much as I admire SA’s intensity and skill, I do have a massive issue with their discipline. How was that not a yellow?? This is becoming an occurrence every match they play.

    Tom, London

Dare I say VAR levels of inconsistency creeping in the rugby……

That's probably a fair cop. And a player of James Ryan's experience should know better.

But the crowd aren't happy that Feinberg-Mngomezulu wasn't carded earlier and are jeering that decision.

James Ryan is sent to the bin and it's going to the bunker.

That has not gone down well in Dublin.
