Summary

  1. Goodnight from Trevisopublished at 21:47 GMT 30 January

    Benetton 20-20 Scarlets

Thank you for joining us tonight and kudos to all of you who managed to fathom what was going on in that second half. At one point, an abandoned game looked a distinct possibility.

As it happened, we were given an enthralling contest that defied the conditions.

Incidentally, the last time these sides met?

September 2024 at the same venue. Final score then was....Benetton 20-20 Scarlets.

Not only did mist and fog strike tonight. But lightning struck twice.

On that probably awful attempt at a humorous sign-off, I'll say goodnight!

  2. Mixed emotions for Davies and Scarletspublished at 21:44 GMT 30 January

Nigel Davies will be misty-eyed in the changing rooms, literally.

After 40 minutes where his side were constantly on the backfoot and soaking up pressure, a 13-3 deficit appeared a sizable one.

But Scarlets turned the tide second half and despite the visibility issues, when they had sustained possession they looked dangerous. The three tries were testament to that.

It must be mixed emotions though. Carwyn Leggatt-Jones produced a mature display on his first URC start, but that late missed conversion potentially cost the visitors a superb comeback win.

To counter that, two points so nearly became one with Nicolas Roger Farias failing to land those last-gasp penalties.

What is undeniable though, despite the missing players, is that it is another step forward following Davies' return.

  3. 'We're not far off' - Andersonpublished at 21:41 GMT 30 January

    FT: Benetton 20-20 Scarlets

Scarlets number eight Fletcher Anderson told S4C: "It was pretty interesting tonight, especially under the high ball.

"We thought our breakdown let us down, we gave them a couple of chances to win the game, we were pretty lucky, it's something we'll think about over the next few weeks.

"We're not far off, we just let ourselves down with inaccurracies in key moments, but we're trending upwards for sure. It's been positive change in the past few weeks."

  4. Full-time: Glasgow 31-22 Munsterpublished at 80 mins

Well Munster fought back bravely, but Glasgow see it out for the win that keeps them top of the URC table.

After a commanding first half that saw them race into a 28-5 lead, they had to survive a second-half Munster onslaught.

Warriors steadied themselves late on to halt the Irish charge and it's now nine straight wins in all competitions for Franco Smith's side.

  5. Full-time: Benetton 20-20 Scarletspublished at 21:29 GMT 30 January

    It's short and wide.

And breathe. Well, only after Billy McBryde contemplated running it out from his own posts before getting it off the field.

    But now, yes, breathe.

Final seconds, Scarlets have possession on halfway.

Oh you are kidding. Penalty at the breakdown goes the way of Benetton. Nicolas Roger Farias asks for the tee and it is this to win it....

  7. Penalty: Glasgow 31-22 Munsterpublished at 74 minw

    Lancaster

Glasgow very, very rarely elect to kick penalties at goal, but given the wind - literally and metaphorically - is with Munster right now, it's a smart move.

Lancaster knocks it over from in front of the posts to nudge Glasgow beyond the converted score advantage.

  8. Missed penalty: Benetton 20-20 Scarletspublished at 78 mins

Nicolas Roger Farias is trying a monster of a penalty given the conditions. Nigh-on 50 metres.

I nearly ate my words there. Sails narrowly wide but had it been on target, I think the Argentine had the distance.

What a game in the mist. And what a finish in store...

    Page try

    Macs Page you little dancer!

Carwyn Leggatt-Jones gathers Dane Blacker's clever kick forward and moves into the 22, where Page is on his shoulder to score. Superb play between the three.

Oh boy - but Leggatt-Jones then misses the simple conversion. That could be pivotal.

  10. try

Converted try: Glasgow 28-22 Munsterpublished at 68 mins

    Kilgallen, Wood con

    It's all Munster now!

Glasgow do well to repel a rolling maul near their own line, but Munster keep their cool to spin it wide and send Diarmuid Kilgallen over for the try.

Substitute Tom Wood knocks over Munster's first successful kick of the night and it's game on at Scotstoun.

    Garbisi try, Farias con

Should have called it on 60 minutes ref...

Superb defence from Scarlets, with Fletcher Anderson to the fore, as they withstand 13 phases of pressure.

They can't stop the 14th though, as Alessandro Garbisi picks up from a ruck and goes under the posts.

    Gleeson

Glasgow mess up their own lineout ball near their 22 and Brian Gleeson is first on to it to break free and score.

A few Glasgow fans getting a bit nervy now.

Big moment. Joe Roberts tries to tidy up a loose ball metres from his own line but is penalised.

Benetton penalty and another lineout chance. They've had a few of these tonight but not managed to convert...

Suddenly, it's all Scarlets but they are missing chances to pull away here.

Skipper Johnny Williams hits up 15 metres out only to be deemed to be holding on. Benetton are rocking here but still, just one score away.

    Benetton 13-15 Scarlets

Four times, the away forwards try to barge over from a metre out. On the last of those, Jac Price is held up over the line and Benetton survive.

The clock by the way, has ticked past the hour mark...

    Benetton 13-15 Scarlets

Scarlets penalty, 30 metres out but close to the touchline.

Sure enough, Carwyn Leggat-Jones decided the corner is a safer bet.

  19. Play will continuepublished at 58 mins

    Benetton 13-15 Scarlets

Right, the referee has just held discussions with his assistants before restarting play here.

The clock could now be a huge factor. If the game is abandoned and we've played 60 minutes, the score stands. By that notion, the visitors have two minutes to hold out before this score can be deemed definitive.

  20. try

Try: Glasgow 28-10 Munsterpublished at 53 mina

    Kelly

Munster get their second try of the night and it's an absolute corker.

Dan Kelly breaks from deep inside his own half, sets off on a searing run, burns the cover defence on the outside to go over in the corner.

Stunning try and a glimmer of hope for the Irish side.
