Steve Borthwick will be happy to end a five-game losing run.

England now fly to Argentina, can they get a winning run going?

England captain Jamie George, speaking to BBC Sport: "It hasn't been challenging this week. We have been honest and had difficult conversations. We have made sure we have been accountable as players.

"We wanted to put on a show for the guys in the north.

"You don't always get what you deserve in Test matches."

England wing Noah Caluori, speaking to BBC Sport: "It doesn't get much better than that. The whole week has been unreal.

"All the boys have been so supportive. If I got 10 minutes or 40, I was going to be comfortable.

"I am hungry for more. I am not complacent."

On the dive: "I just do it. Chris Ashton's dive had better technique."

England head coach Steve Borthwick on Henry Pollock: "You can justify it either way [starting or impacting the game]. There were a lot of people involved in setting up those tries.

"I know the media try to highlight individuals. I'd rather highlight the team."

"What really pleased me was the defensive performance. We played a Fiji team that is so dangerous with ball in hand.

"Unfortunately we had to see Pollock's celebration three times in a row.

"I am impressed by how we stuck together."

England fly-half Fin Smith, speaking to ITV: "It has been tough and not a comfortable place to be. We flipped the narrative, playing for England is the greatest honour. We should enjoy these years.

"We let the shackles off. Some better bits of attack but still clunky at times. You will never turn down scoring 11 tries."

Fin Smith nailed nine of his 11 kicks at goal. Many of those were not easy.

It was an area of improvement for Smith, who has certainly nailed down his spot as England number 10.

A blood-stanied bandage shows Seb Atkinson's commitment. Henry Slade and Atkinson could well be the centre combo going forward - a problem area for England.

Bristol prop George Kloska was the other debutant today and England's scrum continued to dominate when he came on.

The Pacific Islanders famously beat England at Twickenham in August 2023, and came close to doing so again when the teams met in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals a few weeks later.

When they met in the autumn, in the midst of an England winning streak, Fiji had been within three points on the hour mark, before fading to a 38-18 loss.

This version however, never looked like having the consistency and cohesion to condemn England to a sixth successive Test defeat – a run of form which would have been their worst in 20 years.

A defeat against Argentina will pile the pressure back on Steve Borthwick. His side have rightly eased some of that scrutiny today, but a five-game losing run and just one win in the Six Nations, which ended with a fifth-place finish, remain well below the standards expected of this England team.

They appear to be moving in the right direction again, even if Fiji didn't do themselves any favours.

England travel to Argentina next Saturday (20:10 BST) for in their final Nations Championship game this summer, while Fiji play Scotland (14:10 BST) in Edinburgh.

South Africa-born Benhard Janse van Rensburg also scored on his England debut.

He didn't get a lot of ball to impose his powerful ball-carrying skills. His inclusion over homegrown prospects has been criticised by some.

Unleash him against Argentina? Steve Borthwick has plenty of options.

The young stars love a celebration. I thought 19-year-old Noah Caluori was excellent on the wing.

In his debut Prem season, Caluori, a 6ft 4in phenomenon in the air, scored five tries TWICE against Sale Sharks.

We didn't get to see him much in the air - his point of difference - but he looked confident at Test level.

A start for him and Henry Pollock against Argentina next week?
