    France 0-0 England

Oooh a slightly nervy moment for England as Zoe Harrison disrupts a French attack down the right wing. Was that a deliberate knock-on by the fly-half?

The referee decides it was a legitimate attempt at an interception.

A sigh of relief for England. France scrum.

    Ugo Monye
Former England wing on BBC Rugby Union Weekly

What are France waiting for? England have never had their strength in depth tested like this. Thirteen players unavailable from the forward pack alone, the USP of the Red Roses.

France's defence is so watertight, the best in the tournament. They are battering teams in attack and giving away nothing in defence.

I find it really difficult to call. France have just got to get it done but I don't think they will.

I think it'll be a high-scoring game despite France having a brilliant defence and I think England will win by eight.

  13. 'France are building something'published at 16:41 BST 17 May

    France v England (16:45 BST)

    Sara Orchard
BBC Sport rugby union commentator on BBC Rugby Union Weekly

This French team are building something. England are favourites but this is the biggest chance France have had to beat England since 2018.

France have had chances before - it was so tight last year with England winning by one point and I think you can discard the World Cup semi-final result as a one-off - but this time the opportunity France have if they can put together a whole 80 minutes is really exciting.

France's Madoussou Fall Raclot, winning her 50th cap, leads the players out through a corridor of flames. It's time for the anthems.

Thumbs at the ready - who's winning this Grand Slam decider?

Thumbs up for England, thumbs down for France.

France coach Francois Ratier is still relatively new in the role, having taken over in November after Les Bleues' World Cup semi-final exit at the hands of England.

In the build-up to this match, he said he predicted the contest might proceed along the lines of Rocky III.

When a journalist asked whether he was drawing a parallel with how Rocky soaked up heavy punishment in rope-a-doping Clubber Lang, Ratier stepped in.

"That's definitely not the plan!" he said. "I got the number wrong. I meant Rocky IV."

So, England are cast as the overwhelming Soviet favourite Ivan Drago instead.

France captain Manae Feleu says that her side are planning to channel some Rocky-style patriotism.

"We'll be going for this victory not just for the group, not just for the team, but for all of rugby in France."

    Punchy.

  16. Who are the players to watch?published at 16:36 BST 17 May

    France v England (16:45 BST)

Marlie Packer, on the bench for England, has scored a tournament-leading seven tries, with hooker Amy Cokayne (five tries) also enjoying a prolific campaign. France cannot afford to concede line-outs near their line due to the strength of England's driving maul.

After four rounds, full-back Ellie Kildunne led the championship in carries (58), metres made (468), line breaks (11) and offloads (10) while captain Meg Jones has beaten a tournament-leading 21 defenders from centre.

Fly-half Zoe Harrison has kicked 23 of her 24 conversions.

For France, veteran scrum-half Pauline Bourdon Sansus (one try, six assists) and full-back Pauline Barrat (two tries, five assists) have seven try involvements each across the tournament.

Barrat is flanked by pacy winger Lea Murie and Anais Grando, who has four tries in her debut Six Nations campaign.

Dynamic second row Madoussou Fall Raclot - who has made a tournament-high 101 post contact metres - headlines the forward pack.

  17. Fast starters face the big finisherspublished at 16:34 BST 17 May

    France v England (16:45 BST)

England have made a habit of blowing sides away early on.

The Red Roses have scored in the opening 10 minutes in their past six Tests and have secured the try bonus point in the first half in their past three - they took just 14 minutes against Italy!

11 of their 36 tries across the tournament have come in the first 20 minutes.

France, by contrast, have typically been slow starters - they led Italy 7-0 and were tied 7-7 with both Wales and Ireland at half-time.

However, they've been relentless in the second half, scoring 19 of their 27 tries in the final 40 minutes, including 10 after the 60-minute mark and six in the final 10 minutes.

England should be well aware of the threat posed by France after Les Bleues nearly completed sensational second-half comebacks in 2023 and 2025.
