    France 7-14 England

Helena Rowland was in the right place at the right time for England there!

Jess Breach boots the ball down field and there's a huge chase from Claudia Moloney-MacDonald, who gets right in the face of Pauline Barrat.

The French full-back is unruffled and sidesteps the winger before putting in a little chip and go which - fortunately for England - sits up in front of Rowland.

This is end to end stuff. What a contest.

It just seems to happen for Kildunne. It could have gone anywhere but it didn't - it went straight into her hands.

More sloppy handling from France, this time from Madoussou Fall Raclot, and it leads to an England try.

Meg Jones hoofs the loose ball forwards and it sits up nicely for Ellie Kildunne to jog over for England's second score.

I'm not sure whether they're playing rugby or hot potato in the middle of the park.

Neither side can keep hold of the ball with four turnovers in quick succession.

France have lost another line-out but quickly have the ball back in their possession.

The French crowd have responded to that England try with a rallying cry.

"Allez les Bleues" rings around Bordeaux.

The important thing is that England did get on the score bored and they were patient.

    We're all square in Bordeaux.

Patient build-up from England, who went through phase after phase on France's line before Sarah Bern makes the breakthrough! The prop bounced over one tackle before diving over for her fifth try of the tournament.

Zoe Harrison doesn't miss with the conversion.

England are within four metres of France's line.

They have advantage. Sadia Kabeya dives for the line but is held up just short. Is this the moment for the Red Roses?

    France 7-0 England

Huge tackle on Ellie Kildunne, who is down on all fours and taking heavy breaths. The referee is satisfied it's not a late tackle.

France don't hesitate and execute a 50-22 but the line-out is stolen by England.

If France had made their possession and territory count in this opening 20 minutes, you suspect they'd have one hand on the trophy.

    France 7-0 England

It's all a little bit desperate from England. They're moving the ball side to side but making precious little forward progress.

Meg Jones, behind the halfway line, eventually resorts to a kick through. No one chases it.

I'm still catching my breath after that French try... on several occasions it looked like they'd left it too late with their passing but England just let them through. Deary me.

Since then, Sadia Kabeya has given away another penalty - and been warned by the referee - and there's been turnovers aplenty. Handling errors from both sides.

    A coast-to-coast beauty from France!

Mackenzie Carson was stripped off possession and then France had the nerve and the skill to run from deep.

Pauline Bourdon Sansus, the only survivor from France's last victory over England back in 2018, was celebrating before she went over the line.

So were a good 30,000-odd of her compatriots in the stands.

Two missed England tackles let France in for their try, you cannot let that happen.

Well what a wonderful try that was. I thought that they were going to run themselves out of room but it was just exemplary play and an exemplary score.

How on earth have France done that?

England had a line-out deep in French territory - their first look at France's line - and were looking threatening down the left flank.

However, France turned over the ball near their line and went from one end to the other, with Pauline Bourdon Sansus - who else? - dotting over.

Great support running from the French down the left wing, who had blue bodies swarming forwards. Questions for England, however - some lacklustre missed tackles.

That is very disappointing for the French because what was the last few plays and a potential score has been ruined by poor execution.

    You're not wrong Catie.

Al, to my left, has just informed me that France have had 92% of the territory in the opening 10 minutes.

But England have just been awarded a penalty from a scrum. Huge roars all round from the Red Roses. They've been under the pump but crucially, France haven't made it pay.

Fair play to France, they have come out of the traps with meaning! England will have a real test on their hands today. Will be so interesting to see how this one plays out.
