Cardiff have to play at their best.

There's not much pressure on them, they go there as underdogs but who knows, hopefully they can do something.

Cardiff are huge underdogs this afternoon but if they cause an upset in Cape Town then it will be a first Welsh win in the play-offs since 2018.

It is the Blue and Blacks' first experience of league play-offs while Scarlets and Ospreys have suffered quarter-final defeats in the United Rugby Championship.

The last Welsh win was when Scarlets beat Glasgow in the 2018 semi-finals before losing to Leinster in the Grand Final.

It's an absolutely fantastic occasion. The sun is shining.

Cardiff will be really buoyed by that recent win against the Stormers and they'll be going out there probably as massive underdogs but with nothing to lose.

The stage is set for Corniel van Zyl's team to go on and continue given the fantastic journey they've been on this season.

Cardiff secured a place in the play-offs by beating Stormers in the last game of the regular season at the Arms Park.

It was a dramatic night as the Blue and Blacks, Ulster and Connacht hunted the top eight.

Cardiff didn't need help - they got the job done themselves in a terrific atmosphere in the Welsh capital.

Stormers travelled to the Arms Park with hopes of finishing top of the table but ended the weekend in third, which could be costly if they do beat Cardiff but then have to travel to second seeds Leinster.

  5. Key pair return for Cardiffpublished at 14:14 BST 30 May

Cardiff are boosted by the return of Wales wing Josh Adams and influential lock Josh McNally.

Tom Bowen and George Nott drop to the bench for them while there is a change in roles for the props against the strong-scrummaging Stormers.

Rhys Barratt and Keiron Assiratti start with Danny Southworth and Javan Sebastian finishing.

Corniel van Zyl said that Mason Grady and Alex Mann were in contention but the Wales pair are not included, although I believe powerful wing Grady is travelling reserve in Cape Town.

Cardiff: Winnett; Beetham, B Thomas, Jennings, Adams; I Lloyd, Mulder; Barratt, Belcher (capt), Assiratti, McNally, Thornton, Botham, D Thomas, Basham.

Replacements: D Hughes, Southworth, Sebastian, Nott, Lawrence, E Lloyd, Bevan, Bowen.

Stormers make three changes to the starting line-up that lost in Cardiff with captain Ruhan Nel and Dan du Plessis partnered in midfield while Seabelo Senatla returns on the wing.

Nel and Du Plessis make their 30th club start together, the joint most in Stormers' history for centres.

Both full-back Damian Willemse and wing Leolin Zas are fit to start despite a collision in training.

Stormers: Willemse; Senatla, Nel (capt), du Plessis, Zas; Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Khan; Mchunu, Venter, Fouche, Smith, van Heerden, de Villiers, Dixon, Roos.

Replacements: Kotze, Matongo, Porthen, Moerat, Ackerman, Theunissen, Ungerer, Matthee.

Welcome to coverage of Stormers against Cardiff in the quarter-finals of the United Rugby Championship.

Will the Welsh domestic rugby season end in a few hours or will the Blue and Blacks cause a huge upset to extend their campaign for at least another week?

Corniel van Zyl's side have had a terrific season and will make history shortly when taking to the field in Cardiff's first play-off fixture.

They face a Stormers side who have made the quarter-finals in every season since joining the URC.

The South Africans are hot favourites but Connacht showed last month that winning in Cape Town is not mission impossible.

Let's have a look at the teams as kick-off approaches...
