Granted, it looks unlikely that the information below will be needed but you never know...

Play-off matches can be tense and tight, as was shown last year when Sharks beat Munster 6-4 in a place-kick shootout.

Here is the rundown of what happens if the scores are tied at the end of 80 minutes:

    • Extra time will be played. This is two periods of 10 minutes.
    • If still tied, the club with the most tries in the match, including extra time, is the winner.
    • If still tied there will be a place-kick competition.

Things have changed since Martyn Williams’ woe against Leicester at Principality Stadium. These are the shootout rules:

    • Each team nominates three goal kickers who take six place kicks between them from different spots along the 22-metre and 10-metre lines.
    • If teams are tied at the end of their six kicks then it goes to sudden death.
    • Only players on the field at the final whistle of extra time can take part in the shoot-out – those in the sin bin are not eligible.

One semi-final has already been decided after Bulls eased past Munster in the first of Saturday's quarter-finals.

The South Africans ran in six tries when beating the Irish province 45-14 in Pretoria.

Bulls will now join Munster in flying to Europe - they take on Glasgow in a semi-final at Murrayfield.

The table-topping Warriors were made to work for their quarter-final victory against Connacht, eventually getting over the line 33-21.

It's Stormers in control at half-time, who will they take on if they finish the job?

The winner will go on to face either Leinster or Lions, who meet in Dublin tonight (20:00 BST).

The Irish province are hot favourites to bounce back from their Champions Cup final disappointment against Bordeaux-Begles.

If Leinster, seeded second, win then the semi-final will be in Dublin while if seventh seeds Lions cause an upset then either Stormers or Cardiff will have home advantage.

It's the set-piece that has totally knocked them out of this game so far in that half.

It was really telling, the words from John Dobson initially that they weren't allowed to scrummage and put their mark on the game two weeks ago.

You just wonder how much of that was imprinted, you have those conversations with the referee before the game.

    Crucial turnover there.

Cardiff need to get back in and regroup.

  7. Half-timepublished at 15:20 BST 30 May

    Stormers 21-7 Cardiff

Another moment for Dan Thomas' highlights reel - the open-side gets over the ball to win a penalty and save the day.

Stormers are denied a fourth try before the break but they are in control and look in good shape to make the semi-finals.

Cardiff need something special... and to get the first score of the second half.

Not a [Cardiff] supporter but they don't have the rub of the ref and his team. Stormers are taking out players not attached to the rucks and getting away with it.

Stormers are going for the kill.

A superb 50-22 by scrum-half Imad Khan gives them a chance for a fourth try on the stroke of half-time.

It's been defence, defence, defence for Cardiff since they scored the opener (through their defence).

That's the threat of this Stormers team.

    They've created very little.

Most of their pressure is purely through that forward dominance.

Giving Zas a one-on-one, the offload out the back, and he steam rolls Cam Winnett.

    Leolin Zas (Con: Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu)

Cardiff had just escaped but Stormers are over from the next play down the left wing.

Wing Leolin Zas finishes off, powering through Cam Winnett, after an offload by Damian Willemse.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu converts superbly from the touchline and suddenly Stormers have the lead that their dominance deserves.

Remarkable defence by Cardiff flanker Dan Thomas to deny centre Ruhan Nel.

The Stormers captain powers over the line but the covering open-side gets his left leg under the ball.

Ref Eoghan Cross' whistle will be worn out.

Another penalty against Cardiff and Stormers opt for a scrum in the 22, which means the introduction of Javan Sebastian with wing Josh Adams off temporarily.

Stormers have been penalised three times, Cardiff 10 times.

A difficult one for Assiratti but again, could Cardiff have changed that picture a little bit earlier?

  16. Sin-binpublished at 32 mins

    Stormers 14-7 Cardiff

Another penalty against Keiron Assiratti and the Wales tight-head - the first choice for the summer tour - is sent to the sin bin.

Will he return or will Cardiff stick with Javan Sebastian when he comes on?

The Blue and Blacks need to dig deep here.

    Stormers 14-7 Cardiff

Cardiff might have a few grumbles over the first try and might quibble over the penalty count but they haven't been anywhere near accurate enough.

The Blue and Blacks need to up their game and cut out the errors in the 10 minutes remaining before the break if they are to stay in this.

Avoiding the set-piece would help as well because they can cause Stormers problems with ball in hand.

A really sharp move there by the Stormers.

Cardiff are committing men in that drive defence.

It's a lovely little peel off the back, and he's going to take some stopping from five metres out.

    Ntuthuko Mchunu (Con: Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu)

There were a few question marks over the opener but there is no doubting that one.

Stormers kick to the corner and rather than going for the drive they play off the top to put loose-head prop Ntuthuko Mchunu on the rampage.

There is no stopping him from close range.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu converts and the favourites are seven points in front.

    Stormers 7-7 Cardiff

ANOTHER scrum penalty to the Stormers and Keiron Assiratti is really struggling out there.

Cardiff have Javan Sebastian on the bench after boss Corniel van Zyl opted to swap his props around on both sides.

Stormers on the attack again and, after a burst by Ben-Jason Dixon, there is an EIGHTH penalty inside 28 minutes.
