So that's your lot from Wales head coach Steve Tandy who has named an unchanged team for the first time in his reign to face Italy in Cardiff on Saturday.

He has kept faith in the players who shook title contenders Ireland in Dublin last week and believes that is a strong sign of "cohesion and consistency" in his squad's performances.

And Wales will unleash their new try-scoring machine Rhys Carre.

But it is still three years - yes, really! - since Wales last won in the Six Nations and that was against Italy.

However, this is a VERY different Azzurri they face having already dispatched Scotland and England either side of narrowly losing to Ireland.

Italy are aiming to win three games in a Six Nations campaign for the first time.

Wales are holding onto their slimmest of slim hopes of avoiding the Wooden Spoon for the third year in a row.

So join us for what looks set to be a thrilling super Saturday when everything will be decided in this year's Six Nations.

And what about all the memes of Rhys Carre's try which has become a social media sensation?

"My favourite one [meme] was the one with Whitney Houston music," Steve Tandy jokes.

"There's always a lot of fun in group and some great banter.

"It's testament to Rhys but now it's about us all getting better.

"We have some young players with a huge ceiling for growth.

"We've had a couple of good performances but we have to be better and keep chasing that win."

  7. Was Carre considered at centre?published at 10:44 GMT 12 March

    Six Nations 2026

Steve Tandy has just been asked: Given his remarkable scoring record and amazing turn of pace, did you consider picking Rhys Carre at centre - or even on the wing?

This has brought a smile to the face of the Wales head coach.

"That would be a big leap of faith," he chuckles.

"He is class but all jokes aside, what he did at the weekend was outstanding. He has added to our team when we play to our strengths but I'm really happy with our centres.

"We have some consistency there now and Eddie [James] and Joe [Hawkins] have cohesion that is really exciting for the future.

"But having a loose-head that can score those sorts of tries is very useful for us!"

We'll bring you his answer, but first, let's take another look at THAT try.

  9. Wales 'playing catch-up' with rest - Tandypublished at 10:35 GMT 12 March

    Six Nations 2026

One thing that really stood out in the Welsh performances against Scotland and Ireland was the defensive effort.

Steve Tandy is asked whether his players are believing that they can physically match the rest of the Six Nations.

"They are really growing in confidence and belief," he says.

"They were a connected group before I came but they are getting tighter and tighter and can see now just where they can go.

"When you are on a run as we are then perhaps you could doubt that but this group is getting stronger and they are striving but we need to improve faster than other teams because we are playing catch up."

  10. Italy provide blueprint for turnaroundpublished at 10:31 GMT 12 March

    Six Nations 2026

Italy are aiming to claim a third win in a Six Nations campaign for the first time.

Right now Wales can only dream of three wins in the championship so are the Azzurri an inspiration for how Wales could turn around their fortunes?

"They have gone through some tough times, a bit like we are right now, but they took the decision to back a young team, have been consistent with selection and they are now coming through it," said Tandy.

"They are now a really strong team with some world-class players."

  12. Performance or victory?published at 10:24 GMT 12 March

    Six Nations 2026

Steve Tandy has been talking a lot about performances improving.

But after three years without a victory in the Six Nations, is getting a victory by any means necessary - however ugly - more important than performance?

"I want both but honestly I think we have to focus on the performance because if we get that right, we will get that win," the head coach said.

"We need to be in the fight in more games and we showed that against Scotland and Ireland - and New Zealand when you look back to the autumn.

"We got a win against Japan [in November] but that probably wasn't our best performance.

"No-one is more desperate for a win than us but we can't cut corners. If we get our performance right that win will come.'

    Six Nations 2026

Wales have shown improvements since that disastrous opener against England.

"I don't think it's about turning a corner against Ireland because I think there have been steps in every game since England.

"We were nowhere near where we wanted to be in that game but late on against France, then against Scotland and again against Ireland there have been very clear signs of improvement, learning and growth.

"Now we need to turn that into a win."

One selection change, and crucially it's Blair Murray on the bench. Could be a game changer if our defence is as destructive as last week, forcing Italy to make mistakes and squeezing the ball into broken play.

  16. 'Murray provides attacking threat'published at 10:09 GMT 12 March

    Six Nations 2026

The only change to the matchday 23 for Wales is bringing back Blair Murray to the bench.

He said: "That decision is based on how we feel the game might go and it might break open as time goes on.

"Blair brings a real attacking threat but also gives us cover across the back three."

  20. Wales can compete again - Warburtonpublished at 09:56 GMT 12 March

Former Wales and Lions captain Sam Warburton was impressed by the physicality shown by Steve Tandy's men last weekend.

"They have found their centre combination and the front five are providing so much more of a platform with their ball carrying and hits in defence," he said.

"They are looking like they can compete again. I was worried we'd become the 30-point whipping boys but they have quickly turned that around."
