    Wigan 4-0 Hull KR

    Jonathan Davies
Former Warrington centre on BBC One

    That's a brilliant try!

The gap just opens up, he could have given it to the winger to score, but Jack Farrimond trusted his own ability with a dummy and he was over.

    A brilliant finish!

    There's the opener!

Wigan make full use of their field position and it's a nicely worked set move on first phase as Jack Farrimond takes the pass before expertly stepping inside the Robins defence and racing over the line.

Great try from Wigan although Adam Keighran makes a mess of the conversion attempt so it stays at 4-0.

Video ref Chris Kendall decides there isn't clear enough evidence and rules it as inconclusive so the on-field decision of knock-on stands but Hull KR will retain the right to challenge.

People love to harp on about attendances and what not at these finals so let me give this very unscientific assessment.

The crowd looks similarish to last year, but that was an oppressively cold day with torrential rain.

I think the conditions are contributing towards a raucous and good atmosphere this year.

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

A captain's challenge very early on here - challenging the on-field decision of knock-on by Hull KR on the ground.

It just shows how important every little factor will be today.

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

An early break in the action though as Dean Hadley gets his head on the wrong side in the tackle and takes a nasty blow.

It's a head injury so he will have to go off to be assessed.

That brings Rhyse Martin into the action a little earlier than he probably expected.

  7. 'Best two meeting on a great stage'published at 15:04 BST 30 May

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

    John Kear
Former Bradford Bulls head coach on BBC One

Rivalries create emotion and that's what these two clubs have. They are intense rivals.

They are at the moment the best two clubs in the competition meeting on such a great stage.

It's the team that controls that emotion and then applies it into their performance and it's going to be absolutely fascinating to see in this searing heat.

Very competitive, no quarter given or asked - this has started exactly how you would have expected.

They are having to work for every inch today.

    Away we go at Wembley.

    This should be a cracker!

Good luck to my beloved Hull Kingston Rovers today, let's do the city proud just like the Tigers last week. I'm confident in the boys to bring it back again, Rovers by 2 tries. UTR.

It's going to be an absolute classic.

We don't often get the two best teams at the Challenge Cup final, we normally get an underdog in there.

It's really hard to split the teams and just with how it's gone, it's getting a little bit personal I think between the two teams.

"We'll try to gain some territory early on in the game, I think most teams usually for for that pick.

"I think we can use the conditions to our advantage. Obviously it's very hot but it makes for an interesting game and fast game. Both teams have got some exciting talents so hopefully it'll be a good game.

"I'm probably a little bit more nervous this time around but it gets very exciting every time I play in a Challenge Cup final and I'm really looking forward to it."

Wigan v Hull KR (15:00 BST)

    Hull KR

Hull KR captain Elliot Minchella who has chosen to start the game playing from left to right speaking on BBC One:

"If we had won the toss we'd had probably kicked-off too, but it doesn't matter. Once the ball's kicked-off we're in the game, I'm really looking forward to it.

"Whoever starts the game well tends to have a good foot in the game The game lasts for 80 minutes, it's not about the first minute, it's about who can get the start, middle and end right.

"We're pretty confident. We've had some good momentum leading into the final in the past few weeks, but we're coming up against a champion team and we're definitely not going to underestimate them. They'll be motivated to get this trophy back. Obviously they've held it in the past a lot of times and we're looking to retain.

"It should be a great game for the neutral especially."

Wigan combined defensive steel with clinical attacking edge as they kept rivals St Helens scoreless in a 32-0 win in the semi-final.

Matt Peet's side soaked up Saints pressure and took their chances when they came along to earn a third Challenge Cup final spot in five years.

Holders Hull KR comfortably saw off Warrington 32-12 in their semi-final as James Batchelor and Joe Burgess each scored twice.

Today's Challenge Cup final will be Rhyse Martin's final appearance at Wembley.

Hull KR's 33-year-old goal kicker, who kicked three goals as the Robins defeated Wigan 24-6 in the Super League Grand Final last October, announced on Thursday that he was retiring at the end of the season.

The former Papau New guinea captain will be hanging up his boots after this autumn's World Cup in Australia.

Martin said: "I look forward to finishing the year strong for Hull KR and giving everything to the team.

"I walk away at the end of the season knowing that I have given everything for each club I've had the honour of representing and hope that I have left the jersey in a better place."

How decisive will the respective benches be today?

Bevan French's name being called out pre-game earned an enormous roar from the travelling Wigan supporters.

Meanwhile, it would be quite something if Bill Leyland came off the bench and scored a pair of decisive tries against Wigan again, wouldn't it..?
