It's been confirmed that Matty Lees won't return for St Helens.

It means those Saints forwards will have to observe more minutes in this first half.

That is some try. The support play from Brad O'Neill - he's gone like a rabbit out the traps.

You think he's going to go all the way but then he's got Farrimond on the inside - what a score.

    Wigan break the deadlock!

Sam Walters links up with Brad O'Neill, who is a wrecking ball through the middle.

He seems destined to go all the way, but pops a pass back inside for Jack Farrimond to finish.

The conversion is landed by Adam Keighran.

Wigan had a few nervous early minutes, but come to life with their latest attacking set with some silky passing and willingness try break up play with an off the cuff approach.

He'll be disappointed with that, Lewis Murphy.

Murphy has to do better and collect that one but the ascendancy is with the Saints.

    St Helens 0-0 Wigan

The first real chance of the semi-final is a wasted one with the ball flung out wide for Saints' Lewis Murphy, who spills it with the line in sight.

There was some great build-up work in the move, with Tristan Sailor a menace for St Helens.

A short kick on the last for Wigan seems to invite immediate pressure on the Warriors defence again.

St Helens push with possession high up the field and will look to test Jai Field under the high ball again.

It is dealt with, but again Harry Smith for Wigan at the end of their next set is pretty ineffective.

Well it's round one to Hastings and the St Helens team.

They showed there they are multi-faceted, they can attack in any part of the field and they've got themselves within field position.

A kick is sent up on the final tackle, and Wigan defuse it right on their line.

St Helens might have suffered a huge early setback, but they look unperturbed.

And that's that. Matty Lees limps off to pitch with the help of two medics to be replaced.

The medics are on to deal with Matty Lees' injury.

It looks like he twisted his knee when attempting to make a tackle. I can't see him going on at this rate.

Wigan have rattled through their first set.

And it appears that St Helens might have suffered an early blow inside the opening 60 seconds with captain Matty Lees going down injured after making a tackle.

What a fantastic build-up to what's going to be a fantastic game.

I'm particularly interested in the [Harry] Smith and [Tristan] Sailor match-up. Just watch the two half-backs go head-to-head and their contributions to the game.

St Helens v Wigan (14:30 BST)

St Helens coach Paul Rowley told BBC One before kick-off:

"I've been to a Saints - Wigan derby before but I felt Good Friday, being involved, was completely different - the noise was incredible.

"What I've just said to the players is 'your best play is your last play'. I'm a bit of everything [nervous and excited] but that eased when I got in the dressing room because I trust the team implicitly.

"They [the players] are fearless, they just rock up and don't know what the big deal is."

  19. 'It's over to the players now' - Peetpublished at 14:27 BST 9 May

St Helens v Wigan (14:30 BST)

Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet told BBC One before kick-off:

"It's the game we've all been looking forward to for a few weeks now so it's important we get the job done now."

On whether he was feeling pressure: "No more than if we're playing Castleford at home or Huddersfield. We've got a responsibility to turn up. These games, for me, are why I'm in a job.

"If they [the players] need final words, they don't deserve to get to the final, do they? It's over to the players now - I trust them."

  20. Smith and Walters start for Wigan after banspublished at 14:24 BST 9 May

St Helens v Wigan (14:30 BST)

Half-back Harry Smith and second row Sam Walter are both back after serving three-game bans.

The return of the pair is a timely one with Ethan Havard sitting this one out after being suspended for making head contact in last week's Super League win against Bradford Bulls.
