It shows how energised Roger Federer is.
The key for Nishikori is to stay mentally with it, accept that you are playing a good player. You are playing a good match yourself, make it difficult for him.

How much of that dogged, but ultimately fruitless, defending in the previous service game took it out of Nishikori?
Federer easily holds to love.
Querrey 4-5 Nadal*

Murray and Williams go on to win the second set
Andy Murray was asked if he thinks he needs to play a different way when he returns to singles competition.
"I would like to play the way that I always played because it's been successful. I think you need to always try and find that balance.
"I could go out and serve and volley every point, keep points short, lose in the first round every week. Then I'd be getting killed when I came in here for losing in the first round every week."You need to find the right way of playing that would be good for your body but also allows you to be competitive and win matches. I'll only really know once I get back out there and start doing it. There's things I need to change and adapt."

If you're stressed, you fatigue a lot quicker.
The effort required to win that first set has got to Kei Nishikori - he felt it in the second set and he's still not as quick as he was in that first set.

They would have liked that Federer forehand winner down the line. His fourth passing winner.
Deuce.
