Well played. He dictated from the moment he made the return of serve and he was able to push Anderson off the baseline. The rest of the point was forehands from Kyle Edmund.

But Edmund gets on top from the next point to get the South African scuttling side to side behind the court, before clipping a return high into the air for Edmund to smash a winner.

Anderson, from great height, powers down a second serve that bounces up towards Edmund's head, but like a Test batsman he finds a way to parry it.
And that's superb from Edmund, he recovers his footing to meet Anderson's response at speed and clip a backhand winner down the line.

Finally, if you're Kyle Edmund, Kevin Anderson misses a point - some 26 in a row he went on serve there, before sticking a loose backhand wide.
It's only a momentary disruption on the South African's way to holding serve once again.

The Brit parries a block forehand back into centre court from the next serve, but Anderson opens up and strikes a fierce forehand winner - 30-0.

He takes the first point of the second set after Kevin Anderson sends a return to his second serve long, but there's a slight hesitation by Edmund on the next - and he double faults, his first of the match.
He didn't look happy with his toss at all there.
Good, clean groundstrokes follow as the pair enjoy a backhand exchange before Anderson catches one on the frame, and Edmund then goes 40-15 up.

So close, but those final few points is where Anderson was willing to take a bit more of a risk by going for some big returns.
