    Argentina v Scotland (20:10 BST)

One thing that is guaranteed in an international against Argentina is physicality – the forward battle will be crucial this evening, and Townsend has pre-empted that with his choices in the back-row.

Luke Crosbie, who captained Scotland A last weekend, is named at blindside – it is his first start for Scotland, having made his debut from the bench in the Autumn. He starts alongside the hard-hitting Magnus Bradbury and Matt Fagerson – no shrinking violets there.

There is also the presence of Rory Darge, Scotland’s bright young thing, on the bench, primed to make his return from injury.

    Argentina v Scotland (20:10 BST)

The biggest calls for Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend come at fly-half and fullback, given the absence of captain Stuart Hogg and talisman Finn Russell.

He has given Blair Kinghorn the nod at 10 over Ross Thompson, in the hope that Kinghorn can build on his strong performances in that position for Edinburgh.

The bigger gamble comes at fullback - Rory Hutchinson starts, despite predominantly playing as a centre throughout his career. Whether that is a masterstroke or an unnecessary risk remains to be seen.

Grant Gilchrist captains the national side for the first time since 2018.

Scotland team to face Argentina: Hutchinson, Graham, Bennett, Johnson, Van der Merwe, Kinghorn, Price; Schoeman, Turner, Z Fagerson, Gilchrist (capt), Gray, Bradbury, Crosbie, M Fagerson.

Replacements: Ashman, Sutherland, Sebastian, Skinner, Darge, White, Thompson, Tuipulotu.
