Manchester United chief executive Richard Arnold is early into his seat in the directors’ box tonight.
It must be a weird situation for Arnold.
With the ownership issues still to be resolved, he can’t know for certain whether this is his penultimate home game before someone replaces him in the summer.
We are still waiting to hear what the Glazer family are intending to do, sell to either Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group or just accept additional investment.

RP: That Chelsea line up looks like United will cruise to the final top 4 slot! Liverpool will rue those dropped points against Villa.
Tim: Have United ever been such massive favourites to beat Chelsea? I think this game will be much closer than many people expect.

Mark: As an interested outsider I would say that Chelsea's bench is stronger than its chosen 11.
Judith T: Why are all these United fans being so negative? Have faith. If you cannot glean a point playing Chelsea and Fulham you don't deserve a place in the CL.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag speaking to Sky Sports: "Win the game. You can never go into a game for a point. Our approach is like always, to go and win. We have prepared them very well, now the players have to act.
"I've said to the players, 'get the job done'. We know we have to give everything and 99% is not enough. We need a clear plan and from there the highest intensity. We need high standards and then we have a good chance to win this game."
"I think a club like Manchester United needs a good bench with top players. He [Marcus Rashford] was at first injured and now he is back so we are happy. We can do something from the bench but we have a strong team."

Chelsea are guaranteed to finish in the Premier League's bottom half for the first time in 27 years.
They are winless in their previous 15 league matches against sides above them in the table, drawing four and losing 11, including each of the last four.
The Blues would also set a new club record of 16 defeats in a 38-game Premier League season if they are beaten at Old Trafford.
Chelsea have scored 36 goals in 36 league games this term, their worst top-flight return since they mustered just 31 goals in 1923-24.

Man Utd head coach Erik ten Hag praises "top keeper" David de Gea, who has won the Premier League Golden Glove with 17 clean sheets following their 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

Image source, .David de Gea's Golden Glove-winning 17 clean sheets have been vital for Manchester United this season, says former England captain Gary Lineker.
De Gea secured his second Premier League Golden Glove with a clean sheet in Saturday's 1-0 win over- Bournemouth that put United on the brink of Champions League qualification.
Speaking on Match of the Day, host Lineker said: "Those clean sheets have proven very important for Manchester United, because they're not exactly a free-scoring team this season."
Former Tottenham midfielder Jermain Jenas responded: "When you look at Manchester United, the whole conversation is around that front line and how it needs changing and a number nine.
"On days like today, to have the ability to revert back to a secure defensive line and a goalkeeper of the type of David de Gea, with his 17 clean sheets, is massively important."

Another stat on Chelsea's youthful side - and it's a good one...
Nine of Chelsea's starting XI against Manchester United are currently aged 23 or under; they're just the third team to start as many players under 24 for a Premier League match, after Middlesbrough (10 vs Fulham, May 2006) and Aston Villa (10 vs Swansea, Jan 2013).

I still think that, if we lose against Chelsea tonight, you know Liverpool will demolish Southampton (on past stats), and our final game against Fulham won't be easy, as it'll be a revenge match for Mitrovic to get his redemption!?

Unpopular opinion maybe: Sancho is in his last chance saloon and needs a big big season next season otherwise I can see Ten Hag pulling the plug on his stop start United career.

This could be a dreary old game. Will Chelsea get a goal? I'm not convinced they will.
Manchester United have hardly been in free-scoring form either so I am expecting a pretty drab affair all round.
Erik ten Hag's side need a point to be certain of a top-four finish and I think they will get over the line here.
Marcus Rashford is back in training after missing the past two matches so we might see him at some point but I doubt United will rush him back, because they have next week's FA Cup final to think about.
As for Chelsea, well they are just thinking about next season now. Every time I see them, they seem to really lack an identity, and their results under Frank Lampard have been wretched.
Chris Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Marcus Rashford is one goal away from hitting the 30 mark for the first time.
It is an outstanding effort and Manchester United would be struggling without Rashford's contribution as the only other player in double figures in all competitions this season is Bruno Fernandes, with 11.

Image source, Getty ImagesGareth Southgate has backed Raheem Sterling to recover from his nightmare season – after leaving him out of his latest England squad.
The Chelsea forward will miss the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia next month after Southgate named the squad yesterday.
Southgate spoke with Sterling last week with the 28-year-old battling a hamstring problem and admitting he had not hit top form.
But, despite his omission, Southgate expects one of his star players to rediscover his spark.
“I will always back him to respond strongly and have the resilience and tenacity to prove himself,” he said. “He said himself he’s not been happy with how it’s been but that will be a temporary thing.
“He really wasn’t in consideration. We didn’t get to the point of whether he should be in or out. He doesn’t think he’s operating on the level he needs.
“He’s an important part of our group and that remains the same. But he is in an area of the pitch where players are playing well for their clubs and playing well when they are playing for us."

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, speaking to Sky Sports, on why Raheem Sterling and Thiago Silva have been left out:
"He [Sterling] had a small feeling in his hamstring at Manchester City at half time but carried on so it's not a major issue but he hasn't trained since that game so he is out and we are hoping he is involved at the weekend.
"Thiago has played a lot of games. There is no doubt he could play two games in three days and finish the season but at the same time I think it's good for him to sit out and be ready for the weekend.
"My role here, when I came in with the league position and the targets not being what Chelsea were used to...it's a position for me to give players an opportunity to see what they can offer and test them to see what they have.
"That starts on the training pitch to show they deserve to play but also in this position to give some of them some game time so I'll be interested to see their individual performances.
"If they don't feel like they are going to be part of getting Chelsea back...you have to have a pride to play for Chelsea no matter what is on the game. This moment is difficult but you have to have pride to play against a really good team in a great arena to play football. Some days I wish I could still do that so it is a blessing for players and I want to see that as a collective."

Chelsea's line-up shows an alarming lack of experience. If you're investing heavily in youth the players need experienced heads around them to learn from.

Image source, Getty ImagesFrank Lampard said Mason Mount would sign a new contract at Chelsea “in an ideal world” but accepted the situation may not be so straightforward for the England midfielder.
The 24-year-old is about to enter the final year of his contract and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club he joined aged six, with tonight's opponents Manchester United among the sides he has been linked with.
If no extension is agreed it will mean he is free to begin negotiating with other clubs at the start of next year, but Chelsea could look to sell in the summer to avoid the possibility of the academy graduate leaving on a free transfer.
Lampard, who gave Mount his first-team debut during his first spell as manager in 2019, said the club must work to show academy players that there is a path to the senior side regardless of Mount’s immediate future.
“It’s a hard one for me to comment on because I’m not inside Mason’s head and from the club’s point of view my role is clearly what it is,” said Lampard.
“In the practical sense it’s completely between both sides on that front. I’m not surprised because this is football. Does everyone know that I really like Mason Mount as a lad and as a football player? Yes, sure, of course they do."

It's ten years since Chelsea last won at Old Trafford.
Frank Lampard probably would've expected a little bit more in terms of an upturn in results since he took charge but the sad reality is that they've lost seven of his nine games.
Chelsea look like a club who are crying out for the season to end.
