An injury problem for Manchester United as Antony may well have gone over on his ankle in a challenge by Trevoh Chalobah, with the Chelsea man looking like he got some of the ball.

Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah heads at goal from Lewis Hall's cross and Chalobah appeals for a handball, but no-one else, including the referee, is interested.

Dil: That Martial miss underscores why you need an Osimhen or Kane or anybody who will shoot first - horrible miss from Martial

Seth: Martial may make us play better but he's not a natural striker - that missed opportunity is another example. Haaland or Kane buries that chance.

A great chance for a second goal for Manchester United as they have a three-on-one counter attack.

Bruno Fernandes slides a pass to Anthony Martial but the first touch is a heavy one and that gives Cesar Azpilicueta the chance to produce a superb saving tackle. Great defending from the Chelsea skipper.

Mike: United are giving the ball away so much. Almost encouraging Chelsea to go and punish us. So poor. Clear out needed for sure. As for Antony, waste of space with that repetitive right wing, inside left that is so predictable.

Chris: If Chelsea had a goal scorer on the pitch they’d be 1-2 up right now, cutting Utd defence apart and then fluffing their lines in the box.

In February 2022 Chelsea won the Club World Cup, after collecting the Champions League the previous May.

From world champions to the 12th best in England in 15 months, it's some drop.

Sacking Thomas Tuchel always looked strange. Now it looks one of the worst decisions in recent Premier League history.

Antony tries his luck for the home side but it doesn't test Kepa Arrizabalaga and goes harmlessly wide.

Casemiro has now scored four Premier League goals this season, only netting more in a big five European league season in 2020-21 (six) and 2017-18 (five), both in La Liga.

Casemiro has proved to be excellent at getting on the end of set pieces and Christian Eriksen is clearly superb at taking them.

However, Chelsea's defence wasn't tight enough on the Brazilian.

There was no real attempt to block Casemiro, no-one trying to impede his run.

I can't believe his long time international colleague Thiago Silva would have allowed that if he had been on the pitch.

That hopeless giveaway along with the defending, and that hopeless attack to match it. It sums up Man Utd and Chelsea of this season

A chance for a Chelsea equaliser and Kai Havertz squares a pass but the ball is just ahead of England midfielder Conor Gallagher, who can't get a foot on it.

Casemiro also got the only goal against Bournemouth at the weekend and has scored in successive league appearances for the first time since February 2019 while at Real Madrid.

It was a great delivery, an inswinging free kick. Casemiro leaves his run late, right through the centre. It's really, really tight.

    Maybe a Champions League-qualifying goal.

That Mykhailo Mudryk miss instantly proves costly for Chelsea.

Manchester United win a free-kick close to the touchline, Christian Eriksen's delivery is superb and Casemiro gets ahead of his marker to glance a header into the net.

A great chance for Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk, he's eight yards out unmarked, central and all he has to do is make a clean connection but he makes a right hash of it, slicing the ball away from goal. Shocking finish and he should've done better.

Lewis Hall had done well with a low cross from the left, but Mudryk had to hit the target from there.

Chelsea teenager Carney Chukwuemeka looks to capitalise on a slip from Victor Lindelof and the 19-year-old tries to send his shot into the top corner, but gets too much on it and it ends up with the fans behind the goal.

It's a good start to the game and it's 100 miles per hour.

It's a frantic start and Jadon Sancho has a chance, but Cesar Azpilicueta is well-placed to see the ball behind for a corner for the hosts, but it comes to nothing.
