Easy win for Liverpool tonight. Palace are so much less than the sum of their parts this season, even with Zaha. Without him were toothless up front and fragile at the back. Will be amazed if we score.

I would question the relevance of Sutton's comments. Liverpool "hanging on" against Newcastle? Er, not exactly. Deserved winners, and let's stop saying 'ten man' as some kind of badge of honour. Newcastle deserved to be down to ten.

Crystal Palace haven't won a game this year - with four draws and four defeats in all competitions.

Palace have lost four games and conceded 17 goals at home in the league this season - both equal with their final total from last season.

The Eagles are the only team in the division yet to score a first-half goal in 2023.

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham: "When their goals come from sloppy play from us it's disappointing but teams like that will force you into errors.

"In the second half we just tried to stick with it. We gave it a go, at least the fans had something to cheer about. We always apply ourselves and try to get in their faces."

More from Rico Lewis: "I got my rhythm quickly and did as well as I could. Pep just tells me to play my normal game but asks me to go inside alongside Rodri, to give us more control of the midfield. It's about winning the ball back on the transition.

"It's nice that he wants to play me and trusts me, it's up to me to perform. The players in the dressing room are very experienced and have had it every year, we know to focus on ourselves and that's the only way."

After a run of four Premier League games without a win (D1 L3), Liverpool have won their last two.

They've won them both by a 2-0 scoreline, having kept just one clean sheet in their previous 10 matches...

However you may remember they shipped five goals on Tuesday in a 5-2 home defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool manager uses driving analogy to explain building team's confidence

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says it is "clear we have to do something in the summer" amid his side's struggles this season.

The Reds were beaten 5-2 by Real Madrid on Tuesday in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie.

Liverpool are also eighth in the Premier League - albeit with games in hand on some of their rivals - during an inconsistent campaign.

"We know we have to improve and change things and we will," said Klopp.

"We cannot do it now but it's already clear that we have to do something in the summer. For now, we just have to go through this and fight back."

    FT: Bournemouth 1-4 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City defender Rico Lewis: "The best thing to do to come back from a few poor results is to win. We are gutted not to get a clean sheet but it sends out a message. The early goal set the tone and we could have had more in the end.

"I love playing in this role. I have played as a midfielder before and then been a full-back so I love it. I have played there all the way through the academy but with these players around you it's 10 times easier."

  13. 'We must create more opportunities'published at 19:27 GMT 25 February 2023

    Leicester City 0-1 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I am really pleased with the performance, we dominated the game, we attacked a lot, we were high up the pitch but we didn't manage to create enough big opportunities.

"That is something we have to improve but we did not concede, and there was just one shot from Dewsbury-Hall that didn't hit the target.

"We had so many situations with big advantages and we have to improve that because then you need to put 14, 15 shots on target and that is going to be the difference. But we are working on it.

"To win away at Villa then at Leicester in the Premier League is extremely difficult to do and we deserved to win both games."

On the VAR decision to rule out Leandro Trossard's goal after a push by Ben White on Danny Ward: "It's OK, that's the decision, thankfully we went over it and we didn't get lost on that and we managed to win the game."

  15. 'Liverpool opposite of mentality monsters'published at 19:25 GMT 25 February 2023

Crystal Palace v Liverpool (19:45 GMT)

Do you remember when we used to call Liverpool the "mentality monsters"? They are almost the total opposite of that at the moment.

How on earth do you call them at the moment? They had a couple of positive Premier League results and started well against Real Madrid - but then they fell apart.

I am not saying sack Klopp, because he has been brilliant for them but if, as now seems likely, Liverpool don't win anything this season, he still needs a strong finish to the campaign.

It might help that they are facing Crystal Palace. It feels like it is very easy to get at Liverpool at the moment but I have covered a couple of Eagles games recently and they are not exactly the most creative or adventurous team going forward.

Part of me thinks Liverpool will nick the win, but then I remember them having to hang on against Newcastle's 10 men last week and I am not so sure they will do the same if Palace have 11.

    Prediction: 1-1

So it's as you were, as that result means the gap at the top remains just two points between Arsenal and Manchester City.

Bournemouth end the day second bottom of the table after plenty of movement in the bottom half.

There's still more to come as Crystal Palace host Liverpool, that match kicking off at 19:45 GMT.

We'll start building up to that but stick around for reaction from Bournemouth.
