It's a wonderful delivery from Tavernier, Tillman was very good in the air, gets a flick that takes beyond David Marshall. You did feel that something was coming, Hibs were starting to rock

Devine is making great overlapping runs and Rangers are getting joy out of it. They just need to do it more

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 53mins

    Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

    David Marshall to Hibs' rescue.

Adam Devine's cross finds Fashion Sakala, but the forward's header is pushed away by the former Scotland goalkeeper at point-blank range and it is cleared just as Alfredo Morelos looks to pounce on the rebound.

Better from Rangers, but Sakala should have done better.

  6. Rangers up against it as nightmare unfoldspublished at 21:14 GMT 15 December 2022

Quite what Michael Beale did or said in that half time break we might never know, but he badly needs a response in what is a vital second half

They simply have to win. He knows it.

Hibernian have been excellent and executed the game plan almost perfectly. They have picked their opponents off with regularity and been clinical when it counts.

Added to that is a stoic determination to keep Rangers out.

  7. Postpublished at 49mins

    Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

Rangers survive a wee penalty call as the ball strikes home defender James Sands on the arm.

It's quickly back up the end, with Michael Beale's side probing the visiting backline, but they are laboured and can find no way through.

  8. Postpublished at 47mins

    Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

Rangers are still looking ragged at the back, Hibs causing James Sands and John Lundstram plenty of problems in the air.

The home side's frustration is showing as they concede a series of fouls - and now a corner.

    Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

Hibs get the second half going and we have a big 45 minutes ahead for both sides.

It's been a cracker so far - let's hope for more of the same.

I can see Rangers are trying to increase the tempo compared to the van Bronckhorst period but there's still a lot of huff and puff. There's an awful lot of energy going into it but I'm not seeing accuracy

  13. Hibs turning corner?published at 21:03 GMT 15 December 2022

    HT: Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

Hibs are well on their way to ending their run of seven straight defeats - and eight visits without a win - at Ibrox since February 2018.

After three straight defeats in the Premiership, the winter break seems to have done the Edinburgh side a World Cup of good.

It's back with a vengeance. It's been absolutely fantastic. Hibs have come here to play and come here to win. They've got two goals and they should have had another with Youan. [Hibs goalkeeper] David Marshall hasn't exactly been flinging himself around the goal making saves

  17. What a first half!published at 20:55 GMT 15 December 2022

    HT: Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

A reminder of that blistering first 16 minutes.

Ryan Porteous, the centre-half who has been linked with a move to Rangers, rose unmarked to head Hibs into the lead eight minutes in.

Fashion Sakala fired the reply on the quarter hour mark, but within seconds, Kevin Nisbet marked his first game since injury in February by thumping the troubled visitors back into the lead.

And Hibs are probably unlucky not to be further ahead.

  18. HALF-TIME Rangers 1-2 Hibernianpublished at 20:51 GMT 15 December 2022

Phew! We can take a breath at last.

But it will be blowing up in the Rangers dressing-room as new manager Michael Beale will be raging with his first 45 minutes in charge.

They are another 45 away from blowing a chance to narrow the gap on leaders Celtic to six points.

First minute of four in stoppage time and it is not calming down.
