Everton have been insipid. They just have not got going. What is it going to take for them to spark into life and compete? I would have expected a much better repsonse, a bit of effort. They are so passive.

Wolves come forward again through Hwang Hee-chan, who tries to slip the ball through to Trincao but doesn't get the pass quite right and it runs through to Jordan Pickford.

Better from Everton as Alex Iwobi and Richarlison play a neat one-two on the left, the latter playing a cute ball that sends Iwobi into the box. The forward tries to pick out Demarai Gray but the height is awkward and it bounces off the Everton man and behind for a goal kick.

That's Everton's first touch in the Wolves area.

Everton are trying to pack the middle and give Wolves few options but the home side are then just playing the ball out wide left to right and back again to pull the visitors out of shape.

Wolves are happy to be patient and wait for those crucial spaces to appear.

Everton fans watching the first 20 minutes of this game looking for a response from their team after the Watford performance will be so, so disappointed.

Rafael Benitez will not be seeing the reaction he would have wanted after that 5-2 loss to Watford. Everton are very much second best here.

Mason Holgate pulls back Trincao, who has had a very lively start to the game, and the Everton defender can probably consider himself fortunate that he escapes a booking.

Rúben Neves then bends the free kick over Jordan Pickford's goal.

It is not stopping Wolves though and a lovely, sweeping move ends with Trincao hitting a low, first-time shot that deflects off Michael Keane. The home fans want a penalty but it looks like it came off his chest.

Everton are up against it at the moment.

And VAR rules out the goal. Hwang Hee-chan was just offside when he got the ball.

Pickford loves a flashy save doesn't he?!

That looked like it was heading in and Pickford - like a flying pig! - tips it over.

Jordan Pickford again!

This time the Everton goalkeeper reacts superbly to palm away a fierce Trincão dipping strike.

Pickford must have been watching Aaron Ramsdale's performances at the weekend and doesn't want to be outdone.

Richarlison tries to weave his way through the middle as Everton come forward now but he runs into too many Wolves players and the opportunity is gone.

There was also a n opportunity for Conor Coady from the loose ball and the double chance has brought the stadium to life.

Wolves are on the front foot at the moment.

What a save from Pickford from that Neves shot! Coady should have scored there as well but somehow Everton scramble it clear.

Good spell for Wolves at the moment as Hwang Hee-chan, by the corner flag, manages to flick the ball through to Rayan Ait Nouri, whose cross is deflected behind for a corner.

From the delivery, the ball is headed to Rúben Neves on the edge of the box and his first time shot is pushed away superbly by Jordan Pickford.

Now Wolves embark on their first attack as the ball is played over the top through the middle for Trincão to chase. He sticks out a boot to try and get control on the edge of the box but misses and Jordan Pickford gathers.
