  1. 'We are playing for points, not warm words'published at 16:31 GMT 31 October 2021

    FT: Norwich 1-2 Leeds

    Norwich City

Norwich boss Daniel Farke speaking to Sky Sports: "I am disappointed. In home games against sides around you in the table, you need to win points. We are not playing for warm words, we are playing for points and if you don't achieve them in games like this it is difficult to achieve our targets and earn the right to stay in the league.

"We have lost against the top three and didn't have many chances. In all the other games, we have been competitive and received compliments. There was good effort and a good team performance today, but we lacked quality in both boxes. We were the better side in the first half; when we equalised the atmosphere was buzzing and we had the whole stadium on our side. Then they scored and it changed the mood again. In a tight game this is decisive."

  4. Postpublished at 16:27 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

This is the 101st top-flight game between these sides.

West Ham have won 35 to Villa's 33. So that leaves 32 draws. A remarkably even fixture really.

The players are out on the pitch now. Almost time to go.

  5. Postpublished at 16:25 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

West Ham boss David Moyes is unbeaten in 10 Premier League fixtures as a manager against Aston Villa (W5, D5).

This is his 999th game as a manager. One more after today to match Steve Bruce. Suspect he might even move past him...

  7. 'Smith will be relatively happy'published at 16:22 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

    James Collins
Former West Ham and Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Aston Villa have still been playing reasonably well despite results. Jack Grealish leaving was very unsettling for the club, even if it ended on better terms than most moves.

I think Dean Smith will be relatively happy. Losing the last three games is not ideal but they've got the squad and infrastructure to be more than happy.

  8. Postpublished at 16:19 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

Aston Villa have lost three consecutive league matches - the longest current streak of any Premier League side.

A fourth successive defeat would equal their longest run of losses since returning to the Premier League in 2019.

Eleven of Villa's 13 Premier League goals this season were scored in the second half.

  9. 'Farke has shown big spiritual fortitude'published at 16:19 GMT 31 October 2021

    FT: Norwich 1-2 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds Boss Marcelo Bielsa, speaking to BBC Sport: "A very important win given our position in the table, due to the results we have been obtaining that are not positive.

"It is not frequent and we went quickly from joy to sadness, but that is what football has that is extraordinary.

"Without goals the performance is not expressed. It is very difficult to score. To be able to count on players that unbalance is very necessary.

"The job of a coach has some very difficult things you have to live with. Especially with Norwich's manager, he has shown a big spiritual fortitude and I hope he can come back from this situation."

  10. Record start for West Hampublished at 16:15 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

West Ham's 17-point haul after nine games matches the club Premier League record.

The Hammers can equal the club record of five consecutive away victories in all competitions, last set in 2007.

They could also set a new club best by going eight Premier League games unbeaten on the road.

  12. Lawro's predictionpublished at 16:11 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

West Ham boss David Moyes can do no wrong at the moment, beating Spurs last weekend and then knocking holders Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Moyes might not get things all his own way on Sunday though. I am expecting a much better performance from Aston Villa than we saw from them against Arsenal last week. Put it this way, they need one.

This is Moyes' 999th game as a manager. I've known him a long time and he is doing a top job. When he gets to 1,000 he might even buy me a drink - but then again why would he change the habit of a lifetime?

    Prediction: 1-1

  13. 'A bittersweet moment'published at 16:09 GMT 31 October 2021

    FT: Norwich 1-2 Leeds

    Norwich City

Norwich defender Andrew Omobamidele, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is a bittersweet moment. I am proud to get my first goal but we are here to win games. We are disappointed with the end result. At the end of the first half we were on top of the game.

"They scored and we scored straight away. We were on top. We were unlucky with the second goal. We have a great group of lads. And there will be no pointing fingers. Confidence is just the thing we need. We need to keep improving and focus on Brentford."

  14. 'It was more than three points'published at 16:08 GMT 31 October 2021

    Norwich 1-2 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds striker Rodrigo speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a very important goal. I think we needed victory. We haven't started the season well, but deserve more than we have now. I'm happy with my goal but more so the win."

On Leeds' intensity: "We are a team that tries to command the game, we have this style. We dominated the game and deserved the win and the team are congratulated for it."

On the first away win of the season: "It is more than three points; we played against a team who is having a bad moment, like us. It is an important result and we are looking forward to the next game."

  15. 'Why not dream?'published at 16:06 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

    James Collins
Former West Ham and Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is a breath of fresh air for West Ham to say they want Champions League.

Why not say that? They are a confident group. They go anywhere and fancy beating anyone. I don't think they've got the squad and depth to go to those levels, but why not dream?

  16. 'We can play better'published at 16:04 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we can play better. I am looking for better, we have to up it in certain areas. Overall we are on a good run, the players have done well and they deserve the opportunity to show it again.

"I think we have played well but our play in the final third could be better. We are taking more opportunities, we had been making a lot and not taking them and I have been on at them a little bit to make sure they do better. Hopefully we can show that today.

"We are in a good run of form and we want to keep it going.

"I think Aston Villa have got a really good squad. They have bought well but it takes time for players to settle.

"Villa until Christmas time last year were as good as anyone. Obviously they have lost Jack Grealish who was a key player but they have brought in extra players to add to the team and the squad."

  17. 'We've got to get back to basics'published at 16:02 GMT 31 October 2021

Aston Villa v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith speaking to Sky Sports: "I think the team on the pitch will give a better indication of how we want to play. If you compete for headers, compete for tackles, if you do that, then tactics come into it later.

"We've got to get back to basics. We are playing against a team in a really good moment and we have to match the intensity they play with and hopefully our football can take us to the next level and get the result."

  20. 'Leeds now have momentum'published at 15:58 GMT 31 October 2021

    FT: Norwich 1-2 Leeds

    Alan Hutton
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

We know the position Leeds are in, we don't expect them to be there. They've got enough quality to get up the league and showed it in spells today, but this is momentum for them.
