I think having Leanne Crichton in there is a wise move. In the World Cup, Shelley tried to get Kim, Caroline and Erin in that midfield and it didn't work. We didn't have that anchor and that's what Leanne's job is and probably targeting Neto, who is a big threat

It is pretty much vital that Scotland win the game tonight. The performance was okay in Finland, but they just lacked a bit of quality in the final third and hopefully that will change with the return of Kim Little

I don't imagine it'll be too much of a distraction to the players. A lot of the preparation would've been done and Shelley would've had a large part in that

  13. A tale of two coachespublished at 18:23 GMT 27 November 2020

    Portugal v Scotland (19:00)

Scotland have been forced to travel to Lisbon without their head coach after Shelley Kerr had to self-isolate after coming into contact with a positive case of Covid-19.

She insists she had planned for the possibility - assistant Andy Thomson will have been well-briefed. But her absence could not have come at a more critical time.

The Scots were going along swimmingly in Group E, scoring goals aplenty, until they came unstuck against Finland last month. Of course, it would have to be Kerr's predecessor, Anna Signeul, who marshalled that 1-0 win for the current group leaders.

Kerr will also miss the return game at Easter Road on Tuesday, when a reverse of fortunes will be a must for her side no matter the result tonight.

  14. Can Scots justify top seeding?published at 18:19 GMT 27 November 2020

    Portugal v Scotland (19:00)

Of course, if Scotland lose tonight, the reverse will be true and they will be struggling to win the group and will then more likely be left chasing one of the runners-up spots.

The three best runners-up qualify directly for the finals in England, with the remaining six entering home and away play-offs to fill the remaining places.

Having to rely on that route would be a disappointment considering Shelley Kerr's side, for the first time, entered the draw as one of the top seeds.

  18. Big chance for Scotlandpublished at 18:01 GMT 27 November 2020

    Portugal v Scotland (19:00)

Scotland's men made a song and dance - and rightly so - after reaching for their first major finals for 22 years, but the women's side are within touching distance of their third in a row.

They sit third in Group E, but a win away to second-top Portugal would draw them to within a point of Finland with a home game against former Scotland boss Anna Signeul's side to come on Tuesday.
