    Alex Scott

The obvious surprise is Lucy Bronze playing in midfield. He tried that out in the SheBelieves Cup and she has a physical presence. But she is the best right-back in the world and I want her playing in her best position.

    England

England manager Phil Neville tells BBC TV: "This is a good test on home soil and with pressure on us to perform. We have spoken a lot about going to a World Cup and winning it and this will show if we can handle it.

This probably is the hardest friendly we have. They are like the USA because of their physicality.

"This is a big test,, because it is after the SheBelieves Cup. In their dressing room they will be seeing us a scalp.

"It is always harder to win after winning something because the expectations go up."

    Man City Academy

We're expecting a capacity crowd of 7,000 at the Manchester City Academy tonight, which is just down the road from the Etihad.

It's home sweet home for a large number of the England's players, including Steph Houghton and Jill Scott, as well as Canada forward Janine Beckie.

This game has been sold out for weeks. It's raised the issue of where the women's national team should be playing their matches, and England gaffer Phil Neville has called upon the big men's teams to step up and host.

The good news is Man City and Man Utd are now both open to the possibility of staging Lionesses games in the future.

England boss Phil Neville says "there's competition for places" in his World Cup squad.

The Lionesses face Canada tonight before playing Spain at Swindon's County Ground on Tuesday in the first of two home warm-up matches.

England will also play Denmark on 25 May and New Zealand on 1 June before the tournament in France begins on 7 June.

"We've got the selection coming up, probably in the next three or four weeks. They all know they're all fighting for places, so there's no complacency whatsoever," said Neville.

"Nobody has been told that they're in the squad yet, nobody is booking flights for their families, and I've made sure of that."

He’s made six changes from their last friendly, the SheBelieves Cup victory over Japan. There’s an experienced front line of Karen Carney, Jodie Taylor and Nikita Parris. Karen Bardsley is preferred in goal, as Carly Telford misses out.

The likes of Beth Mead, Millie Bright and Ellen White are on the bench.

England XI: Bardsley, Daly, Houghton, McManus, Stokes, Daly, Walsh, Parris, Carney, Duggan, Taylor.
