Christine Sinclair is a Canadian legend. Her numbers are something to behold.

Aged 35 now, she has 279 caps, scored 179 international goals, she's played at four World Cups and has been on the player of the year shortlist seven times. Oh and she has two Olympic medals.

    See...legend.

First booking of the game goes Canada full-back Allysha Chapman's way for dragging back Nikita Parris down the Canada left.

    Here's another Chapman for you...

  3. CLOSE!published at 32 mins

    England 0-0 Canada

Lovely play from Christine Sinclair again, England are finding it difficult to get to grips with her.

The Canada strike exchanges a one-two with Nichelle Prince and sees the pitch open up to her, but the shot from 20 yards out is easy for Karen Bardsley to gather.

  4. CLOSE!published at 29 mins

    England 0-0 Canada

Canada should be ahead, or at least should have worked goalkeeper Karen Bardsley.

Captain Steph Houghton's poor clearance reaches only Jessie Fleming on the edge of the box, but the UCLA Bruins player smacks a snapshot wide.

    Now then.

Canada have a free-kick 30 yards out and Jessie Fleming is putting the ball down with intent.

Is she going to have a go?

No, she aims for a team-mate towards the back post, but Demi Stokes is aware and stretches a leg out to clear.

Huge cheers for home crowd favourite Steph Houghton as she once again comes out on top in her battle against Nichelle Prince.

She's going to be very important to the Lionesses in France. Phil Neville will want to wrap her up in cotton wool until 9th June.

Ohh, if Nikita Parris collected this, she was in.

Winger Karen Carney plays a sublime cross-field pass into the Manchester City forward, but Parris is unable to take the ball in her stride.

Canada striker Christine Sinclair's hold up play is excellent.

The rangey forward shows good touches, dropping short and popping the ball off to a team-mate.

Reminds me very much of Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.

Anyway, on this move Sinclair lays the ball off for Jessie Fleming, but the left-footed shot is screwed wide.

I said I'd keep you posted on the England band tunes.

We've moved on to 'When the saints go marching in'. It's actually very tuneful, if you like that sort of thing.

England fail to clear and are almost made to pay.

Three defenders mis-cue a clearance allowing Nichelle Prince to get a shot off from inside the box, but it is blocked well by skipper Steph Houghton.

Can we have our ball back?

Canada forward Nichelle Prince sees it drop to her at the far edge of the box, but then smashes a shot over the crossbar and out of the stadium.

That's landed somewhere near the Arndale centre.

The Manchester City Academy is just about full. There are a smattering of empty blue seats behind the dugouts, but the atmosphere is really positive.

As you watched the 6000-odd spectators arrive you could see it was a real family affair, with all the kids donning face paint, wigs and flags, and the dads having dance-offs with the mascots.

I can see one lowly Canada flag at the back of the south west stand. Very much out-numbered by Lioness fans.

Nice from Barcelona's Toni Duggan, looking to make something happen.

A smart turn on the halfway line and then she tries a lofted ball over the top for Jodie Taylor, but it has a little too much on it and skips through to Canada goalkeeper Stephanie Labbe.

England win a succession of corners in the opening five minutes and almost break the deadlock.

What's that noise coming from behind Stephanie Labbe's goal?

Oh, that'll be the England band. Drums, trumpets and all.

We've had three lots of 'Enger-land, Eng-erland, nah nah' already. I'll keep you posted if we get any other bangers.
