    Cliftonville 1-2 Linfield

    Quote Message

We made it hard for ourselves. We started the game really well had a lot of possession and a lot of opportunities. The two goals came from set plays which thankfully we work on quite a bit but we let them back into the game, which is disappointing. I thought all in all we were the better side over the 90 minutes.

    David Healy, Linfield manager

    Carrick Rangers 1-2 Warrenpoint Town

Full credit to the back four and Jonny Parr. I just said to him i think that's the best performance he's had. People will look at me strangely for that because there weren't that many shots, but i don't want my goalkeeper making saves I want them to be disciplined, high up the pitch and talking to the back four. Carrick were the better team in the second half without doubt, but we limited them shot-wise and put our bodies on the line.

    Matthew Tipton, Warrenpoint Town manager

  3. Team Newspublished at 17:04 GMT 17 February 2018

    Dungannon Swifts v Ballymena United

Swifts manager Rodney McAree makes two changes as the Co Tyrone side chase a first senior trophy in the Irish League. Cormac Burke and Grant Hutchinson come in while Daniel Hughes and Douglas Wilson drop out for the Windsor Park decider.

It's also two changes for Ballymena from the team which overcame Cliftonville in last Saturday's semi-final. Sky Blues manager David Jeffrey brings in Conor McCloskey and Willie Faulkner for the suspended Steven McCullough and injured Kevin Braniff.

  4. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:52 GMT 17 February 2018

    Carrick Rangers 1-2 Warrenpoint Town

Warrenpoint hold firm to claim a vital win and open up a seven point gap between themselves and Carrick.

First half goals from Conor McMenamin and Seanna Foster were enough to give Matthew Tipton's side their second away win of the season.

Paddy McNally pulled one back for Carrick after 30 minutes but they couldn't find an equaliser in the second half despite enjoying the majority of possession. A very significant result for both sides.

  10. McNally nearly doubles uppublished at 16:43 GMT 17 February 2018

    Carrick Rangers 1-2 Warrenpoint Town

Carrick's best chance of an equaliser goes begging. Once again Paddy McNally is up from the back making his presence felt. He can't direct his near post header on target from six yards out, had he done so it would most likely have been the 2-2.

A huge blow for Cliftonville who had been pressing hard for an equaliser.

  17. So close for Warrenpointpublished at 16:26 GMT 17 February 2018

    Carrick Rangers 1-2 Warrenpoint Town

Conor McMenamin bundles his way into the Carrick box in a rare Warrenpoint attack.

The ball travels across the goal where Lorcan Forde sends a shot towards goal, it was going in had it not been for a deflection. Forde looks on in amazement as it trickles agonisingly wide.

  18. Chance goes beggingpublished at 16:19 GMT 17 February 2018

    Carrick Rangers 1-2 Warrenpoint Town

Scannell somehow digs out a cross as he runs down the left, the ball is headed high but not far by a Warrenpoint defender and drops to Jonathan Smith who is on his own on the penalty spot.

The Glentoran loanee can't keep his volley down though as it blazes over the bar. That was a decent chance.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:17 GMT 17 February 2018

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

Another Reds appeal is waved away after Ruairi Harkin's shot from inside the area deflects off a Linfield player on its way through to Gareth Deane. Cliftonville feel the deflection came via a hand.

  20. CLOSE!published at 16:14 GMT 17 February 2018

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

Almost an equaliser for Cliftonville after Conor McDonald's low cross gets past grounded Linfield keeper Gareth Deane but as Jay Donnelly pokes the ball goalwards, Mark Stafford is on hand to block the striker's effort close to the goal-line.
