    Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba, subject to a work permit.

    The 20-year-old DR Congo international agreed personal terms and completed his medical with the Premier League club.

    Mbemba made 28 appearances for the Belgian side last season, who finished third in the league.

    He is Newcastle's third deal of the summer after signing attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

    Angel Di Maria's proposed move from Manchester United to Paris St-Germain is "close" to being decided, says the French team's coach Laurent Blanc.

    The Argentina midfielder has not joined United on their pre-season tour of America, and manager Louis van Gaal has said he "does not know why".

    "There is a good possibility he could sign but there is nothing official," said Blanc after a defeat by Chelsea.

    "We have to have patience a little longer. The outcome is very close."

    "De Bruyne was absolutely fantastic in that number 10 role – he scored goals and created loads from everybody else. The one question about him – and it came from Jose Mourinho – is that he didn’t like the competition at Chelsea. He wanted to play every week.”

    A huge kick by Petr Cech almost sets up a chance but Mesut Ozil's pass to Theo Walcott is poor.

    Then a delicious pass by Jack Wilshere sets up Walcott, the England man caught dithering on the ball when he should have at least tested the keeper.
