I've been speaking to England defender Lucy Bronze on the red carpet.

On her highlight of 2025: "Winning the Euros, definitely, I think it has to be. For me playing for England is the biggest joy. It's the biggest thing that I've ever wanted and something that I've dreamt of the most. Winning something with England has always been a big dream of mine and we've been able to win two trophies.

"It's so special. So it has to be winning the Euros in the summer."

On her goal for 2026: "We have to qualify (for 2027 World Cup). We've got a difficult group but we're very much focused on that. We want to get to the World Cup, and we want to be contenders contenders to win it."

On who she is looking forward to seeing tonight: "Everybody is coming, but I'm just excited to see my Lioness teammates. I've not seen all of them in a few weeks. But otherwise everyone as I just love sport in general."

In response to whether there has been a sporting highlight outside of her own personal achievements: "I went to the Roses final, so I feel like because I was there and I shared that moment. I also don't live too far from there as well.

"I could feel the real buzz. For a World Cup final to be right on your doorstep and to be there in England, I think that's probably going be the highlight. Amazing."

You voted Great Britain's Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson as BBC Sport Personality of the Year for 2024.

At the age of 22, Hodgkinson ended her wait for a global title with victory at Paris 2024 after a series of silvers on the sport's biggest stages.

She had previously won successive World Championship silver medals after also finishing runner-up on her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021.

Hodgkinson also retained her European 800m title in Rome and became the sixth-fastest woman of all time when she improved her British record to one minute 54.61 seconds at the London Diamond League last year.

  13. Six contenders to become a final threepublished at 17:12 GMT 18 December 2025

This year on Sports Personality of the Year, we’re doing things a little bit differently.

Tonight, when the vote opens, you will be able to vote for one of our six contenders for the main award. No changes there.

But, after we’ve heard from all six nominees, we’re going to freeze the vote and reveal which three contenders are at the top of the voting - in no particular order.

We’ll then reopen the vote one last time between the top three contenders.

All the votes cast up to that point will be carried over, and you’ll be able to vote again to crown one of the top three contenders as your winner for 2025.
